Storm had hoped the weather wouldn't be as warm on the Speed Test as it had been on the Korung... but this was the other end of the scale! From the prepping stables Storm looked outside at the track, though the rain obscured anything too far away. He could barely make out the farthest turn. Storm turned to his companion for the day.

"Not the easiest first official race on a Shedu for you today I'm afraid."

Maya's boyfriend and interim Shedu rider, Brannon, grinned. "Well, at least in this race I won't have to worry about the rain stinging my face with the full helmet we've got to wear. So how bad can it be?"

How bad can it be indeed...

Storm had opted to ride Blackbird, who was still very wary of strangers, this time. Though Storm would've loved to have ridden his beloved Electra for this important test, she was far less picky about her rider and more focussed on the task at hand. So the choice had been made for him really.

The two riders and their Shedu's were soaked before the starting signal was even given. When it did, Electra shot off like a bullet from a pistol. Blackbird though, slipped on the muddy dirt and nearly fell flat on her face. In a flash she was also off and running after Electra, but Electra had a few body-lengths head-start now.

"C'mon now, girly, you're not going to let her win that easily are you?" Storm spoke to his mount.

It was hard to hear over the howling wind and the rain clattering against his helmet, but Storm could've sworn he heard a defiant rumble issue from Blackbird's throat.

The race was on!

I have to say I had fun on making this scene look rainy and wet
Also, I'm quite proud of the fact I did this one without using any references!
Please tell me what you think?

Omg cats and rain sounds like a baaad combo XDD they look surprisingly unbothered XP
hm never thought about it but its really handy these cats probably get out from many falls uninjured unlike horses Oo....thats something very very awesome to consider..

Your patience to those many spots and markings is mindblowing xDDD Since you so frequently draw your cats even

Haha, you'd think so wouldn't you
These cats are too focussed on racing really... besided, the faster they finish, the sooner they can get out of the rain .
That is a very interesting thing to think about, yes. Though a fall at the speed they're going wouldn't be advisable... certainly not for their riders

The spots really aren't too bad. Just don't bother too much with precision . Besides, if you're smart with your viewpoint, you can avoid many spots
