Description
Badiri's felt the ground graze against his paws as he padded over the cold frozen earth. He could feel fluid dripping from his muzzle as he stumbled on his paws, barely able to continue standing. He knew that it wouldn't be long before he wasn't able to continue.
He felt himself sigh with relief as the glint of pale sunlight reflected off of the river ahead, soon he would be able to return to the Sunning Rocks Camp with water for Akili since the cubs where due soon and with all of the tribes becoming sick Badiri knew that he needed to do what ever he could for her.
Suddenly he stopped, the water just ahead of him as he coughed, blood meeting the water, mixing and turning it a redish color before flowing away. Even as his coughing slowed, he felt himself gag as blood continued to drip from his muzzle. Badiri sat head drooping as he felt his surrounding spinning around him. His fore paws-slid out from under him as he felt himself over, leaving his paws just a step away from the water, as he felt everything disappear from beneath him.
Badiri's eyes flickered open, tiredness eating at his mind still, though the sickening feeling of the blood in his throat was gone. Looking around he realized that he was in the healers den. His ears pricked as the voices of Dalila and Kokoto reached him.

"He's going to live, but it wont be without loss." He heard Kokoto say quietly.
"Like what? He'll be able to walk, right?" Dalila said, shock entering her voice as she tried to keep it down.
"No," Kokoto said "It wont be that bad I'm sure, the sickness didn't effect anything more than his throat and mind."

They where both quiet for a few seconds. Causing Badiri to sit up quickly, he wanted to know what it was Kokoto knew was wrong with him.
Badiri open his mouth, ready to ask them, alerting them to the fact that he was awake.
Nothing but the sound of nearly mute gasping seamed to come from his mouth.
He coughed once, in an attempt to clear his voice.
Still no more then gasping sounds.

"Badiri?" Kokoto asked as she approached me.

"Why can't I speak!" I hissed with my gift, though i felt i knew what had happened.

Kokoto frowned, "You nearly died Badiri. Its lucky that you managed to survive at all."

I felt my stomach clench as i swallowed "I nearly died?!

"Yes," the healer said quietly "And you've lost your voice as an effect from your throat swelling for too long."

WAIT! What do you mean 'Its Lost'?!" I gasped in shock " I'm never going to speak again?!"

She sighed as her eyes met mine, "Sometimes, gifts are given to certain cheetahs for a reason, perhaps this is why you got yours."
