Description
This is yet another from my AP Concentration portfolio on the Civil Rights Movement. This one is rather straight forward illustrating the sit in protests in a slight surrealist form. I made this around last October.White charcoal on black poster paper.
It's not my favorite... I don't like how I made everything so realistic... and the people are fugly but I just couldn't bother to work on them any longer. What an artist, I know. :/

well, what about graphic design? that is one of the few(only, really) careers in art that pay well. actually, they get paid really well depending on where they work. and it's such a broad field, you can get into any market, ya know? that's what i'm studying to be.
what are your other ideas? writing perhaps? i've noticed they tend to go hand in hand more often than you'd think. just in my experience. personally, i'd like to be a fantasy adventure novelist and a graphic designer, AND do all of the illustrations in my novels.

hey i took ap art portfolio and ap art history and i saw this as one of the examples for concentration! now i know who actually drew this! holybelgainwaffles- its kinda like that theory that everyones connected- just like everything is connected lol - i saw this when i took ap art - and ive seen your art a couple of times before this- but now i know who did this- and i already watch you! XD

i saw this at my school- my art teacher that also teaches all of the AP-Art classes i was in was doing a slideshow of concentration pieces just to give us examples of what 5's were and how our pieces should b top notch and such- and i saw this one and the one of you with the chiaroscuro(sp?) in your pen and u did that one in oil paints- i'm not sure how long ago you made these but i think i've seen them two years in a row!

i go to school in wisconsin currently ( the land of cheese and cows as many know it by)
i went to high school in watertown- the city right smack dab in between milwaukee and madison. Now im going to college (im a freshmen and i start wednesday :S ) near milwaukee for graphic design.

this is really kickass.
i'm working on my ap portfolio right now...and still trying to figure out what my concentration will be...i may just start from scratch on that and put all previous artworks into the breadth section. :/
but this is very cool, reminds me of an idea i had (only in that there was a whites-only sign and it was a civil rights piece...i didn't think of anything quite this neat-o)

whatever you decide, choose your Concentration theme wisely! I know it seems obvious, but now I wish I had narrowed my topic because currently, it's far too broad.

Yes, that's what makes the piece so cold. But bear in mind that these protesters often sat in restaurant counters for days without being served and being harassed by white segregationists.
