Description This is NOT a manip in any way. This was taken in my study where lots of mirrors have been added to make it look more spacious. The little door is under our stairs!

Full view recommended, thanks!

On the subject of Alice...I can't wait for the movie, due out on March 5th 2010 - my birthday! The trailer looks great!

Those chess pieces and hour glass definitely got my attention.

Thanks! I've developed quite a passion for old intriguing objects. It ties in with a novel character of mine actually. The chess pieces are early 20th century. The board from about the 50's (I wanted to find an older one but it was such a nice board). I wanted to start playing chess again but didn't want an uninspiring modern chess set. I wanted the traditional pieces. The hour glass is fascinating and has a compass and sundial at both ends. It's a 5 minute one.

I'm now interested in getting an old sextant!

Oh wow!. That's very interesting. Same here, I like old vintage stuffs. But it's kinda hard to get those old things that I wanted. Chess pieces are one of them. An hour glass with compass and sundial?. Now, that is indeed something I haven't seen before.

And you're looking for a sextant?. Haha...interesting. But it sure is a good hobby finding these vintage stuffs.

Yes, the sextant is a recent interest. Because the character in my novel has a huge Victorian study/library that I wanted to fill with intriguing (but old) things, I asked my hubby for advice. He suggested a sextant and I had no idea what it was so did a little research. Having seen it I really want one for myself now! But not a reproduction, I want a Victorian one! I doubt I'll be able to afford an antique one but I'm keeping an eye on Ebay to see what crops up.

That's great!. Incorporating actual items with your book. But anything Victorian/Vintage items are always great to have for keepsake that is. For me, all I wanted to do with those vintage stuffs is to photograph them. Still looking for that pocket watch though. But recently, I've been planning to get my hands on any vintage cameras.

I'm sure you can get one off EBay. It's just a matter of time.

Yes, I mainly want to photograph them too. I've never really been into still life photography, but I'm really getting into taking pics of unusual/intriguing objects, with a history or story behind them. I want to take some better shots of the sundial asap!

I'll keep my finger's crossed for you. I'm sure you will find a pocket watch eventually. A vintage camera would be fun too!

You got the word that I was looking for...INTRIGUING!. That's what they are. I'm always fascinated with vintage/old items because like you said, there's a story behind every one of them.

Hehe..thanks! .

This goes along so well with your novel! And btw I love mirrors and have a hallway of them! All the doors that open into the hallway are mirrored.

That's exactly what hubby and I want to have when we get our own house - a hallway of mirrors! I would love a room of them too! Not for vanity, but for all the intriguing reflections!

Thank you! The Professor is going to love playing chess too! I was going to call it The Professor's Study but I did feel that an Alice themed title would work better.

Yes, that's why I like mirrors, too. Not to look in them but to reflect light...my modeling name is Unbearable LIGHTness, after all!
