Listen up, you primitive screwheads!This is Ashley J. Williams right-hand man, modified from the casings of a Homelite XL, hollowed out to put your hand in for all the Ash-O-Nova wannabes out there. This baby took quite some time to complete finding just the right bar for it. Thats right, all the wear n' tear from Deadites who wanted a taste was also painted on by yours truly. Now the next one of you primates even ask me if its functioning.... blow.

Gorgeous! seriously! and i know how hard it is to find that style of bar too! did you use the aluminum casing? I'm working on a new replica that'll use the aluminum case. it's not quite as accurate since they used the plastic case in the film, but it'll be a bit stronger i think. also, how'd you do the piece that's on the side of the pull start?

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm, but let me be the first to say if anyone's should be giving praise it should be me to you! When I saw your chainsaw it blew my mind! Your paint job is phenomenal, as well as the craftsmanship, and has a sense of originality to it. I've tried to replicate mine as much as I could from referencing Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness even though the chainsaws are somewhat different in each movie, but its made from a real chainsaw from a real movie. It has to be much harder to reference the chainsaw from the Evil Dead: Hail To The King video game because you have to pull it from a video game to reality. With that said I applaud you because it looks to the T.
To answer your question its a plastic top to something or other that I cut slits to get the vent look and painted it with a metal coating. I still keep my eye open for something that resembles the metal vent that was custom made for the movie but have yet to find because the plastic lid bugs me still.

OH MY! thank you so much! I did spend quite a bit of time on it. i think all told it was roughly 9 months of spare time to build it and strip and repaint it.
still though, your saw is just gorgeous! the addition of the raised middle section from what appears to be sheet steel is brilliant! you actually have the lines right. i've seen many people who miss that all together or even just go straight for ED2 with just a simple piece of flat steel. you actually raised yours like the cabin scene of ED 2 and the pit scene of AoD. that's great attention to detail there.
so far my best gess on how to make the side vent is to find a cup with a decent rounded bottom and mix some black epoxy in it, let it harden and then remove it somehow, then cut the vent slots in it. i haven't tried it yet but so far it's my best guess. though, i rather like how yours turned out. there's a certain level of added details to it i like. ^_^
