Description

Don't lie Elsa of course the cold is bothering you your life is messed up

I love Elsa but I feel like a big reason is because her character is visually pretty

Like character personality-wise, Elsa literally runs away from her problems for the whole movie

She doesn't actively face her consequences or decide to fix them

Although you can attribute that to being isolated for idk 12 years of her life? But come onnnnn ellllsssssaaaaaaa

And yeah it's not really my place to say since I usually don't face my problems either

But like I ain't a role model for kids everywhere and Elsa is

Don't get me wrong though, while I don't like some parts of the storytelling of the movie (LIKE DUDE YOU SKIPPED ~12 YEARS AHEAD WHERE'S MY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT) but I love the movie for other reasons (DUDE THE MUSIC

THE MUSIC)

And it's been 4 months since I watched it and I still can't get over how beautful and catchy everything is ok help

Enjoy but don't nick!Commission info || Tumblr ver. || On wysp

Love the glowing effect!

Nah me too! I keep watching it over and over. And the music is just sooo > <..
Actually the first time I watch the movie I don't really feel a strong attraction to her, I think it's just that her design is awesome

hey it's perfectly ok to say that! I totally understand, and you're right! :'D When I was writing the description though, what I had in mind was that the people who created Frozen would have known that kids would be watching their movie all over the world, and they could have made Elsa's character a lot more dynamic. Although I probably couldn't have done a better job (lol my storytellings skills are buried deep beneath the earth omg that's how low they are) so I still admire the makers of Frozen for making what they did.

yeah haha, i get what you mean. they really could have made her more dynamic and from the songs and concept art it looked like they were thinking of and toned her down a lot which was kind of saddening. she was a lot more dynamic there. i would have loved to see that part of elsa too. but she is kind of a model for people with depression in a way. that seems to be a first from disney. Β they really could have done better with the story tho. felt a bit rushed and awkward at points. ( i could have either tbh xD just my storytelling class has taught me a lot about it, but im sure your storytelling skills will be better with practice!)
yeah i love frozen despite what it could have been and awakward flaws~

also, it isn't her fault she grew to be so afraid of her powers. Her parents were the ones who shut her up in her room for all those years, and (unknowingly) taught her to fear her powers, and try to hide them. They died only three years before Elsa's coranation, so the damage was already done. If they had let her experiment and play with her magic, just with supervision, she wouldn't have been so afraid, only careful not to use them around people when she was mad.Β

(Sorry for the late reply!! :'D)
Good point though! I understand that other factors affected Elsa's view of her powers, and of course her parents' ignorance was part of it. I'm just a lil disappointed that Elsa never really faced or overcame her fears. I just wished that the ending would have shown more than just Elsa stopping the snowstorm, everybody suddenly accepting her as if nothing happened, and then the happily ever after.

good point! She only thawed the ice at the end, but we never see her facing her fear. She needs to go to the Dauntless compound and do her fear landscape XD

A lot of Elsa's problems aren't entirely her fault. If anything making her a shut-in in both mind and home didn't help, as opposed to teaching her to focus her powers or send her to Professor X or something...

forgottenpantaloons In reply to Xero-J [2014-03-11 02:19:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're right! Definitely a lot of her character was influenced by her parents' decision to isolate her from human contact for years! I just think it'd be great if Disney developed Elsa's character more to show that she really earned and deserved the happy ending she got.

Woww this is amazing! Gosh I love the colors you used and the blue ribbons look so cool. Its just so pretty to look at! And I agree, the movie was so beautiful. Especially the scenery. ughuuu your composition is son ice.

on the topic of elsa though. yeah I feel like part of the reason why she is so loved is that her character design and hair is so nicely done. plus she has ice powers. but the other reason is that she's so easy to relate to. of course she isn't a role model and runs away from her problems the whole movie, but i think thats why she's so loved.

forgottenpantaloons In reply to Yiamme [2014-03-11 02:15:16 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! Yeah, I definitely sat in the theatre for the whole time just gawking at how pretty everything is, plus the animation of the ice powers just AAAAHHHH AMAZEBALLS

And yeah I agree! Elsa's very relatable and her character isn't perfect, and that's likeable, you're right. Her mistakes are easy to sympathize with and for sure I really like Elsa! My only beef is that for younger viewers, she's going to be someone they look up to, admire and try to emulate. In that role Elsa needs to show that she learned from the consequences of her actions before all is well in the end (idk, but since Elsa's the main antagonist in this story so I feel that she didn't do enough to actively earn the town's forgiveness after all that's happened. Haha sorry for writing so much but I really love discussing movie story dynamics ahhhh /-\

omg i know! I heard they made a specific program just for the snow and snowflakes. I saw a gif of it on tumblr asdfjkl;

yeah I think I know what you're trying to say. I do think in the end she learned from her consequences to some extent. I mean she did embrace her powers in the very end of the movie by making an ice skating rink in the town. But yeah, during the reprise of 'for the first time in forever' when anna is trying to get elsa to at least try and fix the problem, i thought that was a little foolish of her. I mean she could have at least tried for the sake of her townspeople. on the topic of the role model though, as a child i dont think i ever tried to be exactly like a character. Like I would wish for their powers, like elsa's ice powers, but i dont think i would try and follow her bad actions. i mean the movie did portray her isolation as a negative thing.Β

ahh don't apologize for writing too much! i really love talking about movies/tv shows a lot too!
