Card 1/56Will is a mousie I met in a popular room. We just knew each other by name before one time I just pounced him and decided to play with my prey a little. It got to a talk and a friendship. Will Squeeks, my first card is dedicated to you
So much for the tribute thingie, I feel terrible... I didn't get any presents this year, just the flu of someone who didn't show up at my painstakingly prepared snowmas dinner, many thanks. This is my first day of rest after all the snowmas craziness, crazimas, so i didn't want to waste it lying in bed all day. Hope it doesn't look bad despite how I feel...
and yah... if you don't give me an idea for a background I do weird things like that...

The supject appears to be standing askew as if in a mid walk or pose...not fluid or natural. The subject is well centered and focused on. The image loses a lot of detail when shrunk. However the original is bigger than most screen settings to view it fully. Are those details needed if they cannot be viewed in a full look at the piece. The textures the whiskers are all lost when fitting a reguar screen.
The background while complemetary offsets the direction of the piece making the natural focus point the waist of the subject. With shubjects that are displaying the humanity behind the picture focus should be drawn to the face. In this piece it apears that we should be looking at his wiast. The face is lost in the colors and contrast of the piece. Then again it is all in what the artist indends with the piece.

Very cute! However, I'd like to point out that ratties have "flesh colored" hands, feet, and ears (usually pink, but always matching the color of the surrounding hair: dark hair = dark skin, light hair = pinkish skin) and slightly more rounded ears. Those little changes would make this drawing top-notch!

Mhm, he's a mousie, but they have those pinky feet and hands too. I'm only following the description I have been given. I guess the ears could be rounder, I think I'm trying a little too hard not to make my mousies look like disney mice *laughs a little and snorts* guhh...

I think that you did an awesome job especially with the shading and texture. I have seen weirder backgrounds but isnβt that bad. Itβs got a certain flow to it. Great job and I hope you feel better soon.
