Description Just before Dawn
Just After Dusk
Day softly becomes day in the Far North
The sunlight clings to the horizon
Never quite leaving the sky
Not really there

I go out and watch the lake breathe in the cool Arctic air

Just outside of Port Alsworth, AK on Lake Clark.

It was tranquil. Jut the two of us and a family of ducks.

These are mid-level altocumulus lenticularis type clouds... I think. Also I believe I can see cirrocumulus clouds as well. This all indicates that cold front has just recently passed over, so you can now put that brolly away as the rain should have gone.

Lovely view by the way. Makes me want to go there.

It is a gorgeous place. No road access, boat or fly in only. This is where I worked as a dispatcher. Went fishing with one of my buddies. He fished mostly and I took photos, I was along because you just don't go off alone out there. Besides being company policy it was just smart. You bring a buddy and a shotgun in case of bears or moose.

I love'd to fishing somewhere like that, that's if I could fish at all. Tried it off the stern of Discovery out in the anchorage at Hong Kong but got nothing.

Being a city boy fishing is going down to fish and chip shop. LOL

Moose are dangerous? This is news to me.

More people are killed by Moose every year than are killed by any predator. A healthy adult has no natural predators and knows no fear. If you mess with a baby prepare to be trampled buy a ton or two of Mom, and the males in rut will trample you for the heck of it.
We'll have to add fishing to the list of things we do if you ever make Port in these parts.

What type of ships normally come to into Portland or Seattle? My training officer said we can request what type we can work on. I'm tempted to go back to container. Just out of curiosity.

I'm not sure about fuel tankers but both Port of Portland and Port of Seattle take both container and car carriers. Here's the [link] to the Port of Portland website if you want to learn more.

My company only operate a few product tankers which don't accept cadets, plus Portland doesn't seem to have a chemical berth. I'm been trying to contact my training officer to go on containers again. The container terminal at Portland looks like it would be very slow. Sorry but Portland doesn't look that busy. But hey, more shore leave. Only recently found out my last ship CSAV Rio Nevado had been regularly visiting Portland before I joined, so it is possible I could end up in your neck of woods.
