Actually this is very specifically art.
It has various creative elements which culminate into the final picture
- the arrangement of the elements
- the lighting
- the coloring
- the vignette effect
If you would just make a picture of the whole thing, it would look a whole lot different and a lot more ordinary.
Considering what flood of such ordinary images we see on devianart.com, its surprising anybody would object to this photograph.

Even though it most likely doesn't seem like it, I don't usually go out of my way to shoot something down.
Then again what is art other than usually being something that a lot of people like to look at. However not everyone likes the same things.

look dude, art is not just pictures you draw, photography is art too
and you DO need skills for pictures too, such as lighting and angles. pictures aren't just something you take, its a form of art.

I find plenty of points for communicating online, creating work digitally, or keeping yourself amused with things on the internet.
I don't however see anything productive about comments like "I don't see why this was featured but whatever.."
and then complaining about low quality features in a journal.
You could very well just suggest a feature yourself, or at least leave a constructive critique.

It looks beautiful, my mouth is watering. It's weird, I never thought of actual ginger or pictured the ginger root when thinking of ginger ale.... the ginger root is just so mysterious to me. Anyway, awesome job~!
