As daylight began to fade, we finally got close enough to the storm to get out of the car and tripod some photos. This day would have been a total bust if we hadn't seen this storm (ironically, located near Last Chance, CO ). We were pretty far from it, but we wanted to stay back and simply enjoy the incredible supercellular structure. This storm produced a tornado before we got to it, but I don't really consider that a loss since we got to see this incredible sight.

I think this shot really puts the storm into perspective. An incredible corkscewing updraft, and an absolutely massive anvil covering the sky in all directions Closer shots later

The best kind of weather. Aside from loud-ass thunderstorms beating the crap outta the sky while you watch from the safety of an underpass, that is.

Love seeing a tornado too, but I don't know enough about them to shoot them safely, so I stay inside for those...
