Description Chapter 2

The day of the anticipated meeting between the Kingdom of FrannyLand and the EmilyLand dawned on quicker than Princess Emily would have liked. Servants prepared the royal carriage outside the palace whilst up in her bedchamber, Princes Emily rummaged around her room with her servants.

“You can’t make me go!” she exclaimed as she skittered across the room, throwing pillows at anyone who tried to stop her.

“But my lady- MY LADY!!” A pillow whizzed by their heads. “Just listen to us for just a quick-“ Queen Emily then started throwing her stuffed animals, successful nailing one of her servants in the face with it.

“I told you bloody people; you won’t make me leave this chamber!” Princess Emily rushed over to her bedside and started digging around for something. “And if you don’t believe-“ She whipped out a golden scepter from under her mattress. “I’LL PROVE YOU WRONG-“

“That’s enough, Princess Emily.” The royal advisor said from the doorway. She walked into the disaster area that was once Emily’s room, stuffed animals and feathers from the pillows littered the floor. “Seems you slept well,” she said as she examined the ruffled princess. “Glad to see you’re enthusiastic about your journey to FrannyLand.” Princess Emily stuck out her tongue but said nothing audible.

“Perhaps now,” One of the maids interjected, hoping to break the obvious tension. “Would be a good time to enter the carriages?”

The distance between EmilyLand and FrannyLand wasn’t too far away, about a day’s travel, but it felt like forever to the impatient little princess.
“Are we there YET? JEEZ.” The princess said with puff of her cheeks. “This is like, the most boring carriage ride in the history of carriage rides!!” She rolled up the carriage window, and stuck out her head to look out at the terrain of EmilyLand, taken in the last glimpses of her beloved kingdom. “Look at all my beautiful candy cane trees, bet they don’t have those in FrannyLand, and look! Chocolate lakes, far as the eye can see! And my cotton candy clouds, oh, you shall be missed! And the gummy bears, and the chocolate bunnies…and the marshmallow chicks..And the-“

“PRINCESS EMILY, I SWEAR, if you’re gonna name off every sweet this kingdom has, I’ll go mad!” the royal advisor said as she put her kitting down. “Now listen, if it makes you feel any better, we brought some seeds from the candy cane trees as part of the dowry. That way you’ll feel right at home, does that please you? Now sit down like a lady and hush.” Princess Emily reluctantly obeyed, but something off in the distance caught her eye.

“Lady Sweet, WHAT’S THAT?” The shocked princess said with surprise. There, before her, stood a giant rainbow bridge. Thick as an interstate, vibrant as a box of crayons, the bridge connected all of the kingdoms with a star like path. There was nothing around them but the heavens and stars on both sides of the carriage. Two massive guards (They must have been giants, Emily presumed) each protected the six golden gates that led to the six kingdoms. Princess Emily was enthralled, never had she been outside her kingdom’s limits and never had she’d see something so gorgeous.

“Oh that? That’s the Nova Bridge. It connects the kingdoms together insuring safe travel between them.” The royal advisor pointed to a flag waving proudly upon the top of the gate. “See that flag over yonder? It’s the flag of FrannyLand, right? Now look around you,” she pointed to the four other kingdom’s gates, they all had the flag too. “She has part ownership on all of them, except-“ She spun around and pointed at the EmilyLand gate, which still had the famous “E” flag. “Ours… That’ll change of course, by tonight with your engagement.” She trialed off as she said it, it was obvious that not all the kingdom was happy with the engagement, but Princess Emily knew it was the best thing to do for her kingdom.

For years, without a proper military or governmental system, EmilyLand had begun to lose its luster. As a child, she had heard the tales of the Grand Rebellion, a war that had dramatically reshaped the previous neighboring monarchy, and although it was a big deal when it happened seventeen years ago, it had no effect on EmilyLand, who was most adamant about playing neutral during the entire thing. Her father, the monarch before her, didn’t want to “…help a bunch of notorious rebels over throw a perfectly good monarchy.” What her father didn’t know, however, that those very same rebels would become joint rulers of the most powerful kingdom the world had ever seen. They became the kings and queens of FrannyLand, with the head rebel becoming The Great Queen and had shook up the old ways of feudalism for the better. Yet EmilyLand was still in the olden days politically, so the Grand Council of EmilyLand thought it best to join up with the alliance of FrannyLand.

“WHAT BUSINESS DO YOU HAVE IN THE KINGDOM OF FRANNYLAND?” a big, booming voice said, spooking Princess Emily out of her daydream. “STATE YOUR BUSINESS TO PROCEED.” It was one of the giant guards who spoke. Princess Emily was too distracted by the massive weapons the two guards had strapped to them to look them in the eye when she spoke.

“Uhh, well…” Princess Emily stuttered as she tried to explain. “Um…I-I’m Princess Emil-ly..ffrom EmilyLandd, and I have a meeting with her high-hness, Queen Franny....please.” The royal advisor dug her face in her palms with frustration.

“Princess Emily, you don’t have to say “please” to them, they’re guards! Be assertive next time!” the royal advisor said threw her hands.

“YOU ARE CLEAR TO PROCEED. HAVE A NICE DAY, PRINCESS EMILY OF EMILYLAND.” The guards stepped back and the golden gates began to open. There was a flash of shining light and as Princess Emily struggled to see past the glare, a she made out a figure heading threw the gates towards them. The two guards dropped to their knees obediently.
“YOUR LORDSHIP, WHY ARE YOU HERE AT THE GATES? SHOULDN’T YOU BE HUNTING DRAGONS IN THE WESTERN WASTELANDS?” The guards said in unison.

“Nah, I’m off dragon-slaying duty today, figured I’d give Aiden a shot to command the troops.” Another figured appeared by his side, this one taller than him. The guards bowed and  lowered their heads even more. “We were sent to retrieve our newest member of the kingdom,” The two figures approached the carriage, their features were now visible. One wore all black armor, accented with red. His cape had an intricate moon embroidered on it, and he was obviously a Taurus because his armor has the symbols engraved all over it.

This must be King Steven. she thought. The other, taller with glasses, wore little armor but was accented in green and brown. At his waist, he had a large book strapped to his belt. And this must be King Sean…

“…Saftely to the castle.” King Sean said with a friendly smile.
“It’s sad we just can’t warp all this stuff to the castle, but it’s only like an hour’s travel to the palace doors.” King Steven reassured her. “Shall we?”
