I like picking weird names like that, like naming Dratini Fuchur, like the lucky dragon from Never-ending Story XD It´s so much fun... But I only really name those that end up in my main team, so yeah, back to my usual lazy self.
I got a new tablet, so my drawing motivation is rather high, too bad all I do is crappy these days. Oh well...

I've always liked Sentret and Furret since the original Silver because they're very cute and can learn some good moves which seems like a good combination to me. ^_^ (I stitched a Sentret recently and am planning to stitch a Furret soon too as I like them so much ^_^ ).
At the moment my team contains a Quilava, a Skiploom, a Flaaffy, a Quagsire, a Butterfree and, of course, a Furret.

aw thats true, they can learn lots of different types of moves, not just like fire or something.. im actually having a bit of trouble putting my ideal set of skills together for mine cause theres such a wide variety to choose from.

Thanks. ^_^ I like to try to have a variety of types in my team to try and keep it balanced well, so far this one seems to be working OK so.
The names are a pretty random mix mostly, I just try to pick names that I think suit the Pokémon I'm naming. My main team's got the theme of having names from Tales Of games, the others are from things like various RPGs, Street Fighter, Monkey Island, Sonic, stuff like that. I need to try and remember more female game character names though, having a little trouble thinking of ones that suit the pokémon I'm naming sometimes now as I've caught so many. ^_^;

I had one of those "why can't I have five move slots?" moments when my Ampharos leveled up recently. I wonder why the people who made the game decided that four move slots was the right number to go with. *Shrugs*.
As I insist on naming all of the Pokémon I plan to keep (not sure why, just something I've always done since the original game) I tend to pick themes to name them with because I'm a bit rubbish at thinking up that many names. ^_^; My hubby's not gone for any particular theme for naming his ones so some of the ones he's picked have been rather random. His Miltank is called Cravendale for example, although that's not as random as his Sunkern being named Tatsunoko.

Could be, a screen absolutely covered in text might not have looked that nice on the old Gameboy thinking about it.
He seemed rather pleased when he thought that one up.
Tatsunoko's a Japanese animation company. Their logo's a seahorse so the name'd kinda suit a Horsea better but he said he wanted a Japanese sounding name and that was what randomly came to mind at the time.

My Gengar's called Morgan, after Morgan LeFlay in Monkey Island, mainly because of the name connection with Morgan Le Fay (been watching Merlin), thought that sort of suited a ghost pokémon. I'd forgotten that there's also a Morgan Fey in the Phoenix Wright games until Dave reminded me about her, her occupation makes the link between the name and a ghost pokémon work too I think so that's nice. ^_^
I asked Dave if he had any funny/clever suggestions for a name but he can't think of anything at the moment (possibly the fact that he's concentrating on playing A Boy and His Blob at the moment may have something to do with that ^_^ ). Midna (from Twilight Princess) comes to mind as a possible name for a ghost pokémon thinking of the game theme I'm using perhaps.
I'll have to look that animation up, I don't think I've ever seen it.

I really must finish playing the Phoenix Wright games some time (working on Soul Silver and the new Pokémon Ranger game at the moment though), they're such good games. ^_^ I'm now trying to think what pokémon would suit the name Gumshoe. XD

A Boy and His Blob was originally a NES game but there's a new one on the Wii. It's a rather fun sort of platform and puzzle game. The boy and the blob have to work together to get to the end of the level and you feed the blob jellybeans to make it turn into different shapes, such as a ladder or a trampoline or a parachute and stuff like that, that help you navigate through the levels.

I've been rather slow getting through them and am still on the circus case of Justice for All. ^_^;; It's taken me so long to get through them because I play other games between cases sometimes, like Pokémon at the moment.
I really enjoyed the first Pokémon Ranger game, I liked that it was something a bit different, finding pokémon to assist you with the capture styler and using pokémon to help you complete missions rather than just battling with them for example, and would recommend it if that'd interest you.
It's been so long since I played the NES version of A Boy and His Blob I can't remember how good it is but the Wii one's nice. It's a kinda gently paced game and the art style is rather charming.

I try and keep my list of games that I'm currently playing to only a few titles, although it's nice to have a few to choose from so you can pick something that suits what you feel like playing as you say. I was trying to complete the DS Fire Emblem (Shadow Dragon), that stayed in my DS for quite a long time, but then I got rather badly stuck on one of the last levels (I'm trying to complete it without losing any of the characters) so I've put that down and swapped to Pokémon instead for a little bit.
I think if they changed it too drastically then it might become too much of a different game which then perhaps might not work so well. Admittedly I perhaps wouldn't have minded a few new features in the game generally but I'm happy that the main system of using the styler and pokémon assisting you has remained pretty much the same.
I've spent quite a bit of time wandering around levelling up my team (and trying to make sure I catch all of the pokémon that appear in the area I'm in that I've not caught yet before moving on to the next area) so I've not found it too bad, although if I hadn't spent the time I have doing that I'd imagine some of the gyms would have been rather tricky. I like what they've done with the re-makes though. I particularly like having a pokémon walking around with you, it seems like a nice little thing to add. The online trading system's been a useful feature too.

did you manage to get past the fire emblem level you were stuck on? ive temporarily stopped playing pokemon for a bit as my friends have all overtaken me by about 10 levels and im not motivated to start a training montage session to try and beat them again XD
yeah same~~ i think the introduction of the pokewalker was really one of the best new things they could have introduced.. not really sure where they can take it from here but im looking forward to black and white. have they released it where you live yet? i dont think we're getting it in the UK for a few moe months...

I'm still playing Pokémon at the moment. I did have another go at the Fire Emblem level but failed again a few times so I went back to Pokémon which I'm having more luck with.
I've now got a great mental image of some pokémon battling, wearing headbands and serious expressions, to the Rocky theme. XD
I'm interested to see how much has changed in Black and White and what new features they've included. I'm in the UK too and don't plan to import it so I'll be waiting a bit for it as well. I don't mind though, I'm still enjoying Soul Silver a lot and I've not finished Guardian Signs either so I've plenty of Pokémon stuff to keep me amused.

the day i replied to your last message, i picked up pokemon again and started training like crazy XD still a long way to go though, im trynig to make an entirely new team so have to level everyone about 50 levels before they're the same as my regular team ><

I'm at the point in the game where I'd like to go and battle the Elite Four. I'm pretty confident that my team should be able to cope with the first four OK but I'm not 100% confident that my team'll be able to beat Lance as well so it'll be a bit of a training montage for me too before I challenge them. ^_^

Looks like the release date for Black and White for us is the 4th of March, so not that long until it's out. I've not decided which version I'd prefer, I've not really looked at the differences yet.

my new team consists of a pikachu, sableye, haunter, vulpix.. and i forget the other two.. but im just training pokemon i like as opposed to ones that are good strategically :/

I'm not really an expert, just someone who's spent a lot of time playing the games. ^_^; XD The moves and types in my team seemed to work OK though so that's good.
Nice to find another Tales of series fan from my part of the world. ^_^
March is prime "need to finish cosplay for the convention!" time of year for me so I suspect that I may not get that far in the game when it first comes out too. ^_^; I've still not decided which one I'll get, I'll probably choose by something like which version has the most version exclusive pokémon I like in it, although Dave and I get different versions (for example he has Heart Gold, I have Soul Silver) so we can trade version exclusives to complete the Pokédex, and it's even easier now with the online trading thing so I guess that's not too important now.

Ah, that's a bit of a nuisance. Mine tended to be OK against most opponents although I didn't have a specific strategy or whatever to make her so. The fact that I tried to keep my team at a good level compared to what area I was in/what gym I was facing next and that I gave her the Shell Bell for a while may have helped I guess.
I've not been to any of the Expos, no. Minamicon's the convention Dave and I go to. We've thought about going to another convention as well but haven't gotten around to doing so yet. ^_^;
So far I've finished four costumes, two for myself and two for Dave. I wanted to make a couple of simple, quick to make and comfortable to wear ones first and happened to have some fabric left over from other projects that suited those four so that worked out well. They're Ash/Satoshi (for Dave) and Gary/Shigeru (for me) from Pokémon and Takato (for Dave) and Riki/Ruki (for me) from Digimon Tamers. Now those are finished I'm working on our masquerade costumes which are a bit more complicated (both of them have mascot heads). I'm planning to keep them a secret until the masquerade but I don't mind sharing photos after the convention if you're interested (although I'm not the world's best cosplayer so don't expect anything that impressive or anything ^_^; ).
If you're interested in cosplay/costumes I made a Typhlosion and pokémon trainer (I was the Typhlosion, Dave was the trainer) and a Raven (Tales of Vesperia) last year which might amuse you?

I don't mind you asking at all (I don't have any secret battle strategies or anything like that). At the moment she's got Cut, Surf, Slam and Quick Attack and is holding the Silk Scarf. Ability's Keen Eye.
Several levels above the gym leaders' pokémon is what I usually aimed for too, depending on the gym and which of my team would be strongest against the gym's type.
Minami's great, I'd very happily recommend it if you ever get the chance to go. It's a friendly convention with a nice atmosphere. Dave and I've been going for years and always look forward to it.
I chose Gary/Shigeru rather than Misty/Kasumi for my costume for when Dave wears Ash/Satoshi because I didn't think that Misty would suit me (I don't fancy wearing shorts that short XD ) and I like purple so. ^_^;
I thought Typhlosion'd be fun. I've always liked the Cyndaquil line and as Heart Gold and Soul Silver had been released shortly before the convention it seemed like a nice sort of time to do the costume.
I've done a few Tales of character cosplays but Raven's the one I'm happiest with I think (again he's not perfect, I made the costume in just a couple of days and so didn't have time to make some of the props I would have liked to have had, such as one of his bows, and I didn't dye my hair which is something else I would have liked to have done). I'm planning to remake a few of them eventually now that my sewing skills have improved a little bit.
I'll send you a note with some links to photos of those in a minute.
I've not seen Anise cosplayed much (or, thinking about it, many of the Abyss characters), at least not over here anyways. The Tales of series needs more cosplay. ^_^

I'm planning to swap one of her moves to Hyper Voice when she can learn it (which should be soon, she's not that far away from the level she needs to be at to learn it). Might change around another move or two if I think something else would work better in Kanto but, with the moves the other pokémon in my team have at the moment, that set seems to work OK. One nice thing about her knowing surf is that when Dave and I battle each other on the Wii game the animation for a furret doing surf's rather cute. ^_^
I don't act like he does in the first series (the whole "I'm Gary Oak and I'm great" thing) at all so it might be amusing to tease Dave (as Ash) about how I'm better at Pokémon than him. (Especially as I'm now further into Soul Silver than he is into Heart Gold, he started playing it before me but got distracted by Ghost Trick and Assassin's Creed). XD
Indeed, anything that could be described as "is that a pair of shorts or a belt?" is not something I fancy wearing. XD I don't think I ever saw the Ant and Dec cosplay thing (I used to watch the show on Sky). Was it funny?
The Typhlosion line's always been my favourite out of all the starters since it appeared. Some of the others are nice too but Cyndaquil and it's evolutions are still my favourites.

There was a Wonder Chef cosplayer at Minami once, that was cool. But yeah, it'd be nice to see more Tales of cosplays. Particularly some of the characters from the games that seem to be less well known over here, I don't think I've seen any Tales of Phantasia cosplays here for example. Maybe that's something I'll need to add to my cosplay-to-do list when I finally get around to finishing the game. ^_^; XD

There's one called Pokémon Battle Revolution, it's kinda like a Wii version of the Stadium games that connects to your DS. I'm not sure what it is about a surfing Furret that's so cute but it really is rather sweet. ^_^
Dave's finished quite a bit of Ghost Trick now, he's said a few times that I should play it because I'll like it but I've still not finished all the Phoenix Wright games yet. ^_^; Although I've done quite a few of the Kanto gyms now so at least I've made some progress in Soul Silver.

I feel kinda "meh" about a lot of the new Pokémon designs which is a shame. I've been having so much fun playing Soul Silver, I'm not sure if I'm going to enjoy Black/White nearly as much.
It was one of the most comfortable costumes I've made, I really liked the coat. ^_^ I'm rather tempted to wear it again some time.

I'm still on the second Phoenix Wright game. ^_^; So behind on that series. ^_^; I definitely want to finish them all one day though.
I just need the last couple of Kanto badges now, don't think they should take too long to finish now. Our copies of Black and White haven't arrived yet (Dave and I preordered them so hopefully they'll arrive in the post tomorrow). I think I might try to get the last couple of Kanto gym badges first before I start the new ones as I'm so close to doing that. I'm excited about completing the Johto pokédex too, it's mostly just legendaries I need now.

I looked through the list of new pokémon again recently and I think I'm going to struggle to find a balanced team with Pokémon that I like in it.
It's the sort of costume that'd be nice and comfortable in warm weather so if Dave and I ever go to a summer convention I might wear it again, provided that I don't have so many new costumes I wouldn't have time to wear it of course. ^_^; XD
When I get around to playing the game (after I've finished all the other games I need to finish ^_^; ) if I like some of the characters enough I might make a cosplay from it, and probably one for Dave too so that'd kinda be a mini cosplay group I guess. ^_^
