You have to eat mushrooms, or pine cones(you have to rub up against a specific tree first to get the pine cone), or lay next to a sleeping deer. Then you select the spell you have collected from the menu bar and cast it on another deer.

You stay a fawn for a month after you name your deer, and after that you will change into a stag.

I was playing the game a few hours ago
manly the fawns(like me) run around and
change peoples colors. Once their was a gange,
all of them just runing around.....

I've found that game yesterday on a game-blog. It's so amazing! But unfortunately my pc runs the game so slow, that's it almost like a slide-show. I've even lowered the frame-rate to 6, but it didn't help.

It is safe. I haven't heard of anyone getting a virus from it... its all clean as far as I know.

Nope, this game is not associated with that film at all. It was just the deer concept from the artist that the game designers liked the most.

Oh I forgot to mention that you have to "name your deer" in order to have a glowy icon and cast/receive spells.

Yup, went in and got a name, although I wish I could figure out how to get that fawn thing they were talking about...sounds interesting.

Sorry, I was replying to comments quickly and I forgot about the second part of your comment. My bad.
To download the game you click on the "download the game" link. This takes you to a page with links to several different servers that host the game files. Click on any of them to load the game. (I don't know why some are specified by certain countries) This is the screensaver only. If you want to open TEF up like a normal game program, you must go back to the download page and download the TEF launcher. This creates a desktop icon from which you can launch the program without waiting for your computer to go into screensaver mode. And then you enjoy The Endless Forest to your hearts content!

...Gee, I certinaly am computer illiterate. I had to get my brothers help in changing the screensaver. It's nervewracking waiting for that thing to come up. XD It works now though, thanks!

Hmmm, I'm not overly familiar with computer workings. I asked if you used a Mac b/c TEF doesn't have a Mac compatible program yet. But your problem might be with your laptop, and not with the program. Check out their FAQ and see if there is anything in there that helps, and if not, you can email one of the creators to see if they might know. It is sad that you have to miss out on such an artistic game because your laptop is moody.
