Description BETTER STUFF HERE

This started out as an experiment to see if I can solve a Rainmeter's "web-parsing" issue - holding old non-existent data once the source isn't providing it anymore. What this means is that when you remove a torrent or read a new mail, your Rainmeter skin will keep displaying info about it. The only way for user to solve this was to refresh the skin.
I have found a way to determine which torrents are real and which ones were already removed. Refreshing is not needed at all!

The experiment started on =poiru 's Gnometer skin, he is the author of the base code and design. The design was modified more in the area of overall look/feel. Dimensions (i.e. spacing, sizes, positions) are mostly all his design.
poiru's Gnometer skins here

FEATURES:
*Displays up to 20 torrents
*Refreshing is unnecessary - stops displaying old torrents as soon as they're removed
*Individual download speed next to unfinished torrents
*Overall download/upload speed in form of a graph and numbers
*Dimensions of the drop-down list will fit to the number of opened torrents. List containing 1 torrent won't cover half of your screen (see the image above)
...And the best feature:
*1956 lines of code will give you hours of fun

Sometimes the skin will need a few seconds to process all the data, which means that torrents won't appear/disappear the same moment you add/remove them, but about 2-3 seconds later. Same goes for dimensions of the drop-down list.

Gmail skin with same features (20 mails, refreshing not needed, etc...) is coming soon!
EDIT: Here it is: [link]
----------------------------------------
UPDATE #1: I re-uploaded the skin, because there was an issue with first torrent's speed not adding up to overall speed. Apologies to all that already downloaded.

#2: Fixed 2nd torrent's DL speed not showing.
#3: Fixed 3rd torrent not showing.

It is possible that there are still some other little errors in the code. If anything doesn't work properly, please report here.
Also, forgot to mention that you have to set up Web UI in your uTorrent: poiru's guide

Skin should be without issues now.

I've had the same problems, but it doesn't look like he's done any updates on anything in about 2 years, so I'm thinking we won't get a response anytime soon.

I think I'm doing something wrong. I've set up the web UI in uTorrent, set the port to 8080, and added my username and password to the .ini file. I've tried turning off my firewall, and that didn't work. I can access it at http*://Username:*Password@127.0.0.1:8080/gui/ but it's not showing up in the skin. Help please!

So far this skin is helping really start to understand Rainmeter (just started using it a few days ago). I managed to get the web auth token turned off in uTorrent and got the .ini changed to connect but for some reason I only pull the first torrent from the list and nothing else. Sadly since that is something that I have finished the D/L on and there isn't any upload on it I can't really comment on the effectiveness thereof. Any help on what I might be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. I will happy to provide any info you need. Thanks again.

Hey -Fresh-Grass I'm having issues, it will not show my uTorrents, do I need to plugin anything, like a Username and Password or should it update itself automatically? Cause I've downloaded new things and nothing will show up.

Wow. this one really works (other utorrent skins for rainmeter don't quite do what i want or display dubious data). However this doesn't quite gell aesthetically with the rest of my desktop. is there any way to change the font etc. and maybe the box it all sits in (I've had a wee look in the skin code but it looks, from the perspective of a very inexperienced coder, different to other skin codes i hacve played with)???? All help very very gratefully received. cheers

It looks amazing, but it doesn't seem to work for me...

I've set the WebUI user and password and alt port to 'admin' and 'password' and '8080', changed the skin's settings accordingly, added an exception in Vyper to allow port 8080 (both TCP and UPD), and still, nothing.

Can anyone help?

Your rainmeter is really beautiful and usefull.
I was wondering if there was a way to auto hide it when utorrent has no activity ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fresh-Grass In reply to LatChee [2010-07-17 10:30:09 +0000 UTC]

The way Rainmeter itself works, it's impossible to do that properly without deeper knowledge of regular expressions: [link]
But you could write a condition-formula for Dl and Ul speed (use other conditions in my skin for reference):

Formula = (SpeedDL>0 || SpeedUL>0)?1:0
better is (Rainmeter has some issues with or statements, I think):
Formula = (SpeedDL==0 && SpeedUL==0)?0:1 (it might be single '=' signs in Rainmeter)

But that wouldn't work if you were to remove all torrents, just when there's no transferring going on.

Create a folder called Dynamix into Documents\Rainmeter\Skins, then install the .rmskin (make sure you have Rainmeter 1.2).

Wow that skin really looks clean. You should REALLY think about making it into a full suite. If that happened, I would love it. <-----that right there is all the inspiration you need to do it hah

I strongly consider doing it, but I have some other things to do first. If it happens, you'll see the pack posted in Rainmeter group.

Hi! First I would like to thank you for this amazing initiative and great uTorrent skin. Well, I’ve tried several times to put the skin to work and repeatedly I fail. I used the guide and did all the things necessary, but I still could manage to see my torrents on the skin. I set up my user name and password on the uTorrent, set the port 8080, then on the Settings of Gnometer and nothing. One thing I would like to ask is if in connections I need to set 8080 (entry port)? I need to edit the skin putting my password and username in the .txt file and save? I’ve tried it all and nothing. Anyways, thank you !

Fresh-Grass In reply to zap-abdo [2010-06-22 08:20:05 +0000 UTC]

You need to set only your "Alternative listening port" to 8080 (Web UI settings). Try turning your firewall off, maybe it's blocking the port. If it works, you'll have to add port 8080 to firewall's exception list. In the .ini file write your Web UI username and password only where this is written:
Username=
Password=
These are variables, so you have to only edit this and leave everything else as it is.

It will work, when you can open this local address: http*://Username:*Password@127.0.0.1:8080/gui/ (remove both asterisks).
Also, update your utorrent to latest version. This might help: [link]

Ual! Seriously. I manage to do it by establishing a rule in the firewall on the win7 (those who need help to do it, just google it. Easy). Just like you said. Thak you very much for the support.

It doesn't work for me. uTorrent is working, I can see all the files download, but the rainmeter skin doesn't show anything. The config file has a section with Username and Password, but I don't know what Username and Password to fill in. Other than, I don't know why the problem can be, and why doesn't it work.

My apologies, forgot to mention that you have to set up Web UI in uTorrent itself.
