... A giant leap for kiwikindFinally finished! I've had a sketch of this sitting in my sketchbook for weeks now, and today i finally did something with it! It took about 6-7 hours but i'm quit happy with the outcome ^^ i used winstor and newton ink to line (god how i love winstor and newton <3) and coffee and watercolors for the painting. some touchups were done in pastel and with a white gel pen.

I have seen some of the paintings you make in this style, and i really like all of them. This one too, is just so good! I personally think this may be your best work ever. I'm sure you might have put more work into other things, however i have fallen in love with the style. It's just that it has this whole new color spectrum, all these colored brown colors, if you get that. You have some green there, but it's not green green, it's brown green. I would buy this. Just straight up, if you had this for sale, framed in, for less than 400kr, I would buy this. This is just... awesome. Here, comes the point where i can't give you much advice. It's an animal; can't say proportions are off. It's coffee painting; I have nothing to compare with. I love it. However, i guess i'll try.
I really like the waviness of the painting, most notable on the grass, but in the top right corner, it's just a smear. This is unusual compared to the rest of the picture, so it draws attention. It could draw attention away from the fact that the balloons don't have a top(only some). So it might be better to keep it that way, maybe... The red balloon stands out because it is the only one that is whole, but it looks like the kiwi is looking at the red balloon, you could make a story behind it:
The kiwi's only problem, was that it could niter blow balloons up, nor tie them to his body. Let alone make a knot on the balloon to keep the air, he somehow blew inn, stay inn. However, after countless attempts, he had prepared the first balloon. Yeah, with that story in the back of my mind, the picture shines even more. I love the background, I like how it fades away, and just everything, and, and, yes, everything makes sense! I have never been so exited for a picture in my entire life. Remember that others might not this so highly of this, it's just that i really like the color-spectrum you get when you do this style. However, for me, this is your greatest work ever.Β
I do notice a white line on the left side of Kiwi, his name is Kiwi now, and I'm not sure what to think of that. Is it a bit too noticeable? How would it look if it weren't there? I don't know. As i said, this is more of a praising Β than a critique really. I like it's pose, it really looks as if he has just jumped. Ohh, wait, his name is Kiwik!? I didn't notice the last k, you did have it in lower case. If you are going to change the name, either take a way the last k as a mistake, or make the k in the start upper case to show that it is a name, i would be honored if you'd change it to "Kiwik's journey to the fields of night" (Kiwik's or Kiwi's I'm not sure). I think that was a great book title, but yours was quite fun too. Ohh, and yeah, if it wasn't a name, it would have been a "a" in front, and it wouldn't make sense. Sorry, my fault there, his name is Kiwik, but i still think you should make it upper case. I need to stop assuming things are the way i think they are. I will say it again, I want to buy this. This is the only painting I have ever wanted to buy, and it's not only because i can say it's made by my cuisine, but that too. : )
If i could rate this, this would be rated four and a half stars, standing as my as of yet highest rated picture. I am not just not giving you five stars out of principal, but there is room for improvement here too. Just not much.Β

woah thanks xD yeah i really love the brown hues. it's very tricky to get a good blue tho so after several tries i used pure water (only on the blue balloons tho) i know that his feet are too skinny to be a kiwi.... buuuuut.. umh... he was just born that way. yes.

ah yeah, i get a good feeling from the picture with that story. it gives the kiwi some character (of course i have a fleety background story for him that i thought of as i painted, but as with most drawings the stories are stuck in my mind forever, it just makes it easier to paint them
you mean the rim light? my personal opinion is that it looks better there, since the background was so dark and the shadow of the kiwi was also very dark so they sort of slid into each other, but with the rim light the kiwi popped a bit more. ah glad you like the pose. i spent such a long time fussing about the feet until i ended up drawing them like that. The full title is actually "A small leap for a kiwi, a giant leap for kiwikind" it could be "A small leap for Kiwi, a giant leap for kiwikind" or switch out kiwikind with something else idk xD If his name is Kiwik i think i would change it to Kiwiki or something. what do you think?

welll since you like it that much i might sell it. i do like it (and my parents love it lol) but i know i'm not going to treasure it forever and it might end up in my sketchbookstack in a few years. how much are you offering? (i do like it quite a bit tho so i won't let it slip away easily xD)

Well, if it is a copy, i'll give you 50kr. If it is the original, i'll give you 200kr. If the original is framed, i'll pay for the frame, plus 20kr, if the frame is below 150kr.Β
Yeah, Kiwiki is a better name, but do you know the app tiny wings? Yes, Tinylegs! Yeah, that sounded better in my mind.
New plot:
Kiwiki has so small legs that he can't walk as fast and long as all the other kiwis, so he decided to try to fly!(After all, he is a bird, and it can't be that hard. He did it, kinda...: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2PiIc⦠And that is why he is making all those balloons.
Everything can be fixed with a story. Man, i kinda want to wright that story now. Ohh well, not to day.
