Description This is a soft pastel of my son Andre, drawn about 28 years ago when he was three years old. The story behind this, is that he had this old used yellow toy truck of which he was fond. I, being the loving loyal father figure, accidently ran over his truck with my bigger blue pickup truck. Well, being the older and wiser of the two, I replaced it with a brand new (remember we were poor struggling parents at the time) I don't remember the color truck. Well, Andre would have nothing to do with the replacement. Ultimately I took a hammer to the yellow damaged beast and wailed on it til it would at least run. My son was as happy with it as if it had just been driven off the lot. There is a lesson in this, but it still confuses me.

This is amazing. I hope I can be a fraction of the artist you are some day. Everyone my age (and I'm guilty of it most of the time too) just seems to stick with cartoons, which can be fun, but never turns out anything as beautiful and full of emotion as this.
And thanks for sharing the story too. That's so heartwarming!

Ahhh...the perspective of children. He used to trade dimes for pennies because they were more colorful and bigger.

My brother did the same thing until he realized that my dad had paper money for us "big" kids... then he figured out that the "big" kids' lunch money had a 20 on it and his only had a 1... he's been asking for 20 dollars ever since... haha... he likes the bigger number, but has yet to actually receive the bill. I love seeing a child's perspective on life... that's why I tie the neck strap of my camera around his neck and set him free to take pictures (well, relatively free... he can photograph whatever he wants as long as I am close by his side watching his every move...)

Great story! My son now has his Masters in theater and is working in NYC editing for TV. So you never know from their humble beginnings.

Wow! you must be proud... you never can tell where people will end up... My brother will be starting kindergarten next year... he still has quite a journey ahead of him I'm looking forward to watching him grow up. It's fun to watch him and wonder where he'll be when he is my age...

I definitely understand what you mean... we've already started spreading out with my sister and I both away at school... she's about 8 hours from home and I'm almost 3 hours away in the opposite direction... I enjoy spending time with them while we're all home.

Que bien!! Algo recien hecho!! SerΓ‘ el retrato de tu hija???? Que aun me acuerdo que em lo contastes, jejeje. Pues yo ahora mismo estoy de parΓ³n con los dibujos. No estoy haciendo nada....
