Description Join best friends Timothy and Gregg as they go on a hike up the tallest peak in the seemingly benign Twilight Mountains! However, their experiences while on their way up prove to be a mountain to climb...

This is my second proper animated short, and fourth animation overall. This animation was conceived in the early Summer of 2007, but could not feasibly be made because of my lack of skill with Flash at the time so I had to shelve it until further notice. When I did start work on it again, I redrew all of the backgrounds and changed some of the story to get what I have finished here. Spent just over three weeks of work on this, and it's paid off considerably since the last animation I made.

Only by the time Transmission came along I changed the spelling of the boy's name to "Ralf" ^^.

I don't know Not in this cartoon because there is no dialogue.

I only seem to hear it in those Twilight films. This short was made in 2008, so it would have been before the overkill

I can imagine King Of The Hill's Hank Hill invent a new pitch for his propane sale after watching this movie.

"Propane is also useful for protection against ravaging birds, can coal do that?"

Great movie by the way.

I have backpacked before, and I admit, it gets pretty wierd up there. I hiked up the Pecos Mts in New Mexico Last Summer, where we got amushed by Black Angus Bears.

To those outside the BSA, those are chipmunks.

...

They can be vicious! Especially when you find one in a sleeping bag!

Great job on this

I used to do big hill hikes in the Scottish Highlands when I was with the Scouts. Must be ten years ago now...

Wow! I got the artist's response! Cool!

Sorry, im new, and i've watched your stuff for a while now.

I havn't ever been to the Scottish Highlands, or to Uk for that matter. Ive heard cool things about it though. In SW United States, the opportunities for real backpacking are a little hard to get. The only way i could get into the Rockies was through my group. Very much fun!

Stil enjoy the piece!

Aye, it's been ages like, keep it touch! ^^ Yeah, I've been getting into Flash quite a bit recently, and am putting my skills to good use This is still my favourite self-produced Flash just now.

Nice Job
p.s. i've e-mailed you an assignment to 1up your game on Newgrounds to please your fans on FurAffinity and gain new ones on Newgrounds at the same time

The site (Newgrounds) has it's fair share of amateur animators that gain popularity during their time there (TmsT, Tirrel/Cerebus)

Dogman15 [2009-01-24 20:25:38 +0000 UTC]

When I saw the hawk with the red eye, I thought for a moment that they might be robotic. I was expecting the fire to reveal a metallic interior or something. Also, the animation where Greg and Tim jump out of the way of the avalanche seemed a bit unpolished, but overall the animation looks like you put a lot of effort into it.

(And that's the undesired critique.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FreyFox In reply to Dogman15 [2009-01-25 01:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it took a LOT of hard work on my part to make the whole thing. I guess it did look a bit off in some places like the avalanche scene, but there is only so much I can do with animating without a graphics tablet... now I'm just making up excuses!

Any real life animal suffering would be unforgivable. But then in this cartoon, it's kill or be killed!

It's great that you dedicated this to Kevin Gillis and Len Carlson. ^_^ This is another superb piece of animation.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FreyFox In reply to David31 [2008-09-10 23:24:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh thank you ^^. This one was loosely inspired by The Raccoons among other shows I can't remember off the top of my head, so I thought Kevin Gillis suited it. I including Len Carlson for being the late, great voice of Bert Raccoon among others in the show.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David31 In reply to FreyFox [2008-09-11 10:50:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes the mountains, lakes and that there's a Raccoon present was a dead giveaway. Still it was nice that you dedicated this short film to the two of them. Just in case I didn't say it before...this was very amusing! ^_^

FreyFox In reply to Retro7 [2008-09-10 23:22:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Somebody on NG criticised me for using pencil backgrounds. I spat that out. Traditional backgrounds worked well in the 1980s and 1990s, there's no reason why they can't look good in Flash too. It's one of my distinguishing things
