The first of my state dragons to be posted! This one comes from Maine!

The Maine Rock-Hop Dragon is a smaller to medium sized dragon, the biggest recorded specimen weighing and standing at heights around the same as a great dane. Each limb is topped with two hoof-like claws that make traveling the rocky coasts a breeze. Their large tail gives them an impressive swim speed as they hunt for food in the coastal waters. Using their down turned ears and whisker like feelers, they scan the sandy ocean floor in search of their favorite foods; Lobsters and other crustaceans. Armored scales protect their bellies from stingrays and pinches as the swim close to the ground, and their powerful lower jaw crushes crab shells in an instant. During the evening, these dragons retreat back to the shore, sleeping hidden among the rocks using their stony scales. The large sail on the dragons back absorbs sunlight and heat, and can be flattened to swim faster. Once thought to be migrational, the Maine Rock-Hop actually moves farther inland during the winter, finding caves or tunnels to sleep in until the heat returns in the spring.
