Very nice idea! You could even make a cancan variation of it!

Hmmm, you know, if I combined aspects of this skirt with this skirt I just finished [link] I'd be pretty close to that..

Okay, you'd be in the clear for pockets. Not much useful info on them, but seems like they started dying out after 1800 and weren't used much after 1850. Ran across a few refs that children and the elderly used them more and later. A quick check on one of the V&A sites mentions that the patterns available after that date included sewn in pockets, though the shape was more like the tie on than the modern....
Not that any of that info is needed for this type of costume, but it made me curious.

Really really well done- I like the slips you made for the straps are great. My only opinion would be to maybe have somewhere to put the straps when the dress is cinched up- maybe have them fold over or into the scrunched fabric somehow? That way they would become more integrated in the design.

Yeah, I'm trying to make the straps blend in better on the next skirt, as that is bugging to no end on this piece. Not sure how, and I don't want to much balk added up around the waist.

I love it! It looks fun to wear, & like something you'd see on a retro futuristic movie.

Lol! Yeah, I'm familiar with it. This made me think of the movie Sky Captain.

Can't tell you how many curtians have made it into costumes in my house, and I named my dummy too.
Great skirt!

I really like the design, although it seems like the pouffing up should be on the back of the skirt, to look like a bustle, and perhaps gold buckles, instead of silver since your accent ribbon that is laced through the eyelet lace is gold. It'd be really nice with a petticoat underneath, and some victorian boots. I also agree that a cute waist cincher would go well with this.

I love the way the black tabs allow the skirt to be gathered.

Oooooo... me likey! Expecially the ingenuity of pulling it up with the ribbon/suspenders. I think it wold look cool in another color sceme (sp?), expecially another 'earthy' one.
