I actually think the background fits. The plants look all spiky and wild, and there's a metal fence. All this combines well with the rebel.

Nice picture with good contrast, but I'll go out on a limb here and agree with you about the background. I think it detracts attention away from the skater because there's a little too much texture going on back there. Perhaps if it was slightly blurred or if there was less contrast in the background, it would make the skater pop out more.

I think the backgound kind of adds to it,. actually. Considering the skateboard, and the area seems like one a skateboarder would go flying through, or something. o.o; I don't know, maybe that is just me. But looks good.
