This is canon if you are wondering (click the link to see the official DBS promo). The new arc is bringing the first female Super Saiyan, and she's the Legendary Super Saiyan, full tilt. They haven't given her name (or the shoe design, I'm just inferring from the bracers that she wears a simplified version of Broly's shoes), but hey, she's already got the message boards exploding. Here's hoping we're getting a new Android 18/Launch replacement!

When I saw it on youtube I took a fast look at the commentaries to see people reaction and there was one talking about when Akira Toriyama was asked about the possibility of a female super sayan and he answered that he didn't have any idea yet and said that it would have to be something special, well, IMO better than this only if the guy that replied to this comment saying "in truth it is not the legendary super sayan transformation, but the normal transformation for female super sayans" is right, lol

I remember that they said Super Saiyan looked too masculine for Pan, hence why she stayed as a jobber throughout GT despite being a dedicated Saiyan fighter as a freakin' toddler in Z. Amazing what a few decades can do for perception, right?
And yeah, I'm hoping that LSSJ is reserved for women too. It'd be a fun twist that the reason why we never saw the strongest non-God transformation was because there were no Saiyan women. Supposedly this chick is from Cabba's universe, where the Saiyans didn't even know about SSJ until Vegeta taught Cabba, so they might actually go with something like that. I mean, if they have LSSJ fighters, Cabba is a straight up moron for not recognizing SSJ at the U6/U7 tournament.

Or that could be her secret, since looks like she is holding back / worried before the transformation. I imagine the scene being something like she is entering the ring and fighting a bit, looking all worried, holding herself to not go to far and the opponent saying to her that she can go with everything because he is very strong and then boom, legendary super sayan in your face - but after seing that what I really want to see is Vegeta's face, I'm sure Goku will be like "cool, she looks like a strong opponent, I want to fight against her" but Vegeta being the pince of all sayans and stuff have Β high chance to start his mental monologues, lol

It'd be cool(ish) if she just curbstomped Vegeta like Broly did. Don't just make her the Legendary Super Saiyan, but put her on par with Super Saiyan Blue. If they make her that powerful, she'll be cemented in the cast as a noteworthy character. Of course, it'd mean that Vegeta would end up jobbing again, but that's nothing new for DBSuper.

yeah, but I think that will be difficult to happen like that. I would like that she has a good fight, toe to toe with the strongest of each universe. I hope that she fights well and not lose like in 5 secs, would be a shame. Also I hope that they don't give a masculine voice to her because she is all jacked in that form.

yeah, that's what I fear... would be kinda funny that Goku has a woman's voice and the legendary super sayan girl has a male-ish voice, lol. I would love to see/hear if her normal voice would be like very thin and shy and her voice in super sayan was a strong female voice, like Erza's voice or Claudette's voice

That was the plan. I just don't draw in Toriyama's blocky style. Although, I might have to draw her again after the full design gets shown. I'm guessing on the lower body for sure.

This was the most exciting news from the trailer for me. Finally having a Female Super Saiyan outside of the video games is good enough on its own but having a Female LEGENDARY Super Saiyan makes me so happy. I was worried about how the fandom would react but I'm very happy to see a fair number of people actually excited for her. Here's hoping she turns out well in the next arc.

First real female Super Saiyan and LSSJ on top of that hell yeah am I excited. Also considering she's from U6 I'm kind of hoping she's Broly's opposite not a force of destruction but heaven help you if you if you mess with her friends/family (or universe in this case) a force of good like Gohan basically.
Outside of that my main concern is her having a real good showing and not jobbed out hard as a middle finger to fans of Broly and female saiyans in general because DB's track record with it's female cast is...spotty at best.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that she'll be an idiot. For some reason the fanbase only thinks of Broly as the raging guy that screams KAKAROOOT all the time, but in actuality he was pretty smart in his first movie and had some cool lines. The new LSSJ needs to keep her brains when she goes on a tear, otherwise she's gonna be a crappy one-off character.

While I think it's cool they're finally giving a female character some muscle I think it's silly how they keep pulling Saiyans out of thin air. Aren't they supposed to be extinct?

The next arc is a multiverse tournament between 12 universes. The other Saiyans come from other universes where they weren't wiped out. Apparently the tournament stakes are that only the winner's universe gets to keep existing, and since DBS happens before the end of DBZ, there's a decent chance that all of the new characters will die and Saiyans will go back to being just Goku and Vegeta's family.
