Description Yay! My first animation on DA And this was actually the first thing I animated properly, though I did it before starting my course. Figures my first animation would be these two I actually went over the lines from the original paper version of this one; the lines on the original were too faint to see properly. Tracing over it strained my eyes for about 12 hours. *rubs eyes*
Anyway, this being my first submitted animation I'm not sure it this will actually work. If not I'll try and figure it out. I know there are a lot of mistakes in the anatomy and the timing's off, but I really couldn't be bothered to correct it. It would have taken far too much concentration to fix both and keep it running smoothly. This was all done before I was taught anything on the basics of timing for animation. Also, before anyone mentions it, yes I know her breasts are large. Again, I drew this about 6 months ago when I could only draw them large (and I'm still no better now).

Well then, enjoy

I enjoyed it but the stomach grabbing is a bit jumpy ^^

True, it's a really old animation though. Probably the first one I did really, so I got kinda lazy with it. I'd probably try to go all out with details and subtlety these days

pretty good. Your animations are pretty smooth. How long have you been doing 2D? Any 3D experience?

funkyalien In reply to Spartan-029 [2009-05-31 17:14:33 +0000 UTC]

(Mega late reply )

I've been animating for the last 4 years, I believe. I did a 3 year course, and I've been working as an animator for the last year. I've had some experience with 3D, though I can't really say it's been hugely extensive, so not really enough for me to just pick it up again without a good amount of practice and familiarising myself with the tools.

Ah, cool. I'm impressed with the 2D work you do. We rarely get to do things that much in school. Mostly we barely get past the line work stage. We get farther in 3D for obvious reasons. lol. I understand about the whole 3D thing though. It took a while to get used to MAYA and even then it was the PLE version. Now tat I have the unlimited version I'm off like a rocket, again.

I can't remember the last time I've seen such crisp lines in flash of all programs! And... wow I'm lost at what else to say x.x

funkyalien In reply to TheRWG [2008-03-16 21:49:38 +0000 UTC]

Really? I've always known Flash to give crisp lines due to the way it draws. That said, I was being very tidy over it all.
Glad you like it

i woulda added another frame in the "yawn cycle" but you've probably moved beyond this stuff, so i guess i'll shut the hell up...(nods)

funkyalien In reply to Dojang [2008-02-03 19:50:03 +0000 UTC]

(late reply powers: active ^^'
Looking at it now, I would have put more frames in both the yawn cycle and where she scratches her stomach. It was the first thing I'd animated though, so I'm unlikely to make those sort of mistakes with it these days (or be so lazy). Thanks for the input though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

funkyalien In reply to JillValentine89 [2007-03-25 12:04:42 +0000 UTC]

Both actually I originally did this all on paper in a little flip book, then I scanned each page and traced over them in Flash.

AngelCrusher [2006-11-28 16:56:01 +0000 UTC]

nice work man. I think you shouldnt have looped the scratching between the two frames, instead just redrawn the hand and left the body static. I think the fall has some issues with either timing or the movement arc, but its excellent stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

funkyalien In reply to AngelCrusher [2006-12-16 21:27:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know what you mean. This was back in the day before I learned how to animate properly though, so if I did it again now I'd do it much better. And the anatomy would be right

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

funkyalien [2006-08-22 20:11:17 +0000 UTC]

Wow, I just watched this again for the first time in ages and now I can see eerything that's wrong with it! There's very little anticipation in the yawn, if any, and the tackle should have been done on ones for a smoother motion.
Still, it was the very first thing I animated properly so I can let it go. Good to know I've actually improved since then.

I bet nobody sees this comment

I find it interesting that you can zoom in to the animation and the line art appears so crisp. You have excellent style.

GLOMP! XD Hee hee~

funkyalien In reply to Bravepower [2005-07-31 16:29:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I did most of the lineart at a high zoom level so that's why it's so sharp.

Yeah, it's easier, but not as good for some things. It works in much the same way though and some things are quicker to get done with it
