Description Theo isn't about to let Loki get in the way of the amazing prize of a scrap of fleece dangling from a slightly grotty chewed piece of ribbon.

Rather surprisingly they both ended up on the cupboard top without any problem.

Theo is an 18 week old Abyssinian kitten and Loki is a 17 week old Bengal kitten.

You may use this as stock, but please give credit if you do.

PS Here's a shot a just after, to prove they landed ok...

Amazing shot! You captured the qualities of these two breeds quite well. I love Bengals and Savannahs, and Abyssinians are quite similar to them in bodybuild.

FurLined In reply to Snakephoenix [2013-02-25 21:42:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks . The unpatterned and flat-lying coat of an Aby is great for showing off their build - you can see it in Bengals and Savannahs too but their patterning does disguise it a little! I did think about getting a Savannah instead of a Bengal, but I figured it was probably less risky for the Aby if I got him a Bengal as a companion .

What a fantastic (and rather lucky) shot! And such lovely cats...
I'm picking up my bengal kitten tomorrow - a brown rosetted female. Can't wait! I've never had a bengal before, but they seem lovely and quite mental haha. I couldn't decide whether to get a somali or a bengal, but this bengal kitten won my heart over in the end. My ragdoll is going to be very pleased to have a new playmate lol.

FurLined In reply to SinInjection [2012-12-17 11:50:58 +0000 UTC]

Good luck for tomorrow then - hope all goes well settling her .

Loki's my first Bengal, and Theo's my second Abyssinian. All kittens are mental, but I'd have to say Loki is slightly winning in those stakes! Somalis are lovely and given they're essentially long haired Abys I imagine their traits are the same as Abys - they're both interactive breeds but the Loki seems to be a bit more of a lunatic when they have their chasing-ghosts episodes - they're both inquisitive, but Loki's proving to be a bit more intelligent I think. You should have plenty of fun ahead!

If you have a Christmas tree up I'm interested in how long it lasts . I finally braved putting mine up yesterday and it's been pushed over twice now (once within 10 minutes of going up, and again this morning). It's a cheap fake tree, but both kittens have chewed on the branches and Loki's tried to climb up inside it.

Thank you, will probably need it - it's never easy to introduce a kitten to an adult cat!

I love abyssinians too - they look stunning, like cougars. Was it hard to find a breeder? There aren't any around here that I'm aware of.
I just put put my christmas tree today and my ragdoll has been playing with the baubles (ever so gently though). I imagine my poor tree will be shredded soon enough though when the bengal has settled in lol. I'll let you know

I lost my previous Aby, Simba , to illness in August so I was very keen to find another Aby then as it was too quiet without him. There didn't seem to be so many breeders around, and most of the ones that were local-ish were between litters. My preference was for another "usual" but I found a breeder in Essex (2 and a half hour's drive away) who had a 4 week old "chocolate" who wasn't reserved so I put my name down for little Theo and then had an agonising 2 month wait to collect him! By comparison there were loads of Bengal breeders around and kittens available, so I was able to find an excellent Bengal breeder much nearer who had a kitten only a week younger than Theo who I could reserve. Where abouts in the UK are you?

My 12 year old female neuter is still growling and hissing at the kittens if they get near even after 2 months . Both kittens keep trying to make friends with her but she's having none of it, although with Simba she only ever had a relationship of tolerance (with occasional spats) so I'm not surprised - I'm just delighted it's not violent (brief dominance spats with no actual damage).

SinInjection In reply to FurLined [2012-12-24 10:48:38 +0000 UTC]

Aha, I see. Sorry to hear about Simba - he looked stunning.
I'm from Staffordshire and found an a great ragdoll breeder in North yorkshire and a bengal breeder in Rugby. About an hour and a half drive so not bad at all.

Bit of an update then..
Got our lil bengal girl last tuesday and named her Mina (after Bram Stoker's Dracula). She's gorgeous and very energetic lol. She absolutely hates my ragdoll though, even though he just wants to sniff her and play with her and the occasional display of dominance. She hisses and growls at him every time he looks at her but there isn't really any aggression going on between them. It's usually the other way around - the adult cat rejecting the kitten, so this is nothing I've experienced before. These things can take absolutely forever though, but I hope they get along sooner rather than later!

wow, that is an amazing action shot, it looks like you've got them trained to pose

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FurLined In reply to ekvogl [2012-11-26 10:01:42 +0000 UTC]

Hah, I wish they were trained to pose! What tends to happen is I'm trying to get action shots of a single kitten jumping through the point I've got the camera aimed/focused at and the other kitten decides it looks like fun and jumps up in the way. In this instance serendipity resulted in a good shot .

The other problem is if I spot the kitten in a nice pose, go to grab the camera to capture it, and the kitten sees me moving for the camera and gets interested in what I'm doing (or the sun glints off the camera throwing a bright moving spot on the wall and the kitten tries to chase it)! That's cats for you
