Personality: Upbeat and full of energy, Sparrow is ready for whatever the grove throws at her! Or so she claims, anyway. She still has quite a lot to learn, but she's very willing to learn it! She's a very curious folk, and if there's something she doesn't know about, you can bet she'll do her best to fix that. However, this is not always a good thing, as she's also quite reckless with a tendency to act first and think later. On top of that, it's really quite easy for others to lead Sparrow into trouble; because yes, she would like to see what happens if you do this, or what happens if you try that!
But despite how boisterous she is at face value, Sparrow has a lot of insecurity lurking below the surface. When things do go wrong because of her reckless behaviour, she will take it quite harshly. She's constantly trying to prove herself, and she views her screw ups as outright failures. Her typical method of dealing with her emotions is to bury them, ignore them, and keep herself busy so she's not left with her thoughts; which works about as well as you'd expect. Sparrow is extremely slow to talk about her personal life with others.
Backstory: TW for parental abandonment and mention of a past severe injury
For most of her kithood, Sparrow was raised by her parents, two members of the Adventurer's Guild. They taught her basic survival skills, and taught her the value in picking up odd jobs; she was always a busy kit. All of this came to an abrupt end when Sparrow woke up one night with a drastically different pelt, a honey-gold phylakardia, and wings for ears. Scared and disgusted by what their child had become, her parents permanently dropped her off at the Den that same afternoon. Hurt and betrayed, Sparrow was inconsolable for days.
Eventually, with the help of some of the other Dreamsurged kits, she perked up again. But she stayed aware of how she and the others are viewed; how could she not be? When one of her friends came back from an outing fully convinced a strange folk with a nasty look in their eye had been following him, she immediately believed him. When he came back with news of a safe place for Dreamsurged kits to hide, if they're willing to help another of the strange kits, she was the first one on board with the plan. She and three of her friends fled the Den to go to the Forgotten District together, and the four have been living together ever since.
Shortly after her phylakardia had sunk in, Sparrow found out from a family friend who'd been there for her when her parents were not that she has a younger brother; and his age suggests he was born shortly after Sparrow had been abandoned. The revelation that her parents replaced her crushed her, and not knowing what to do about it, she decided to distract herself by joining the Wyld Hunt. She took to wielding the Gravekeeper's Shovel and fighting predators like a duck to water, but her initial cocky attitude got one of her teammates hurt, and she spent the rest of the hunt trying to do better. During the final battle against the Verdant Snapjaw, Suncrest took a hit to save her, leaving her to charge back into the fray. Ultimately, his sacrifice was in vain, as Sparrow was well and truly taken out of the fight when a lash from its tail threw her against a tree, and she landed at exactly the right angle to get her eye jabbed out by a branch. After the hunt, she elected to become a Gravekeeper for real, both to prove herself and protect herself.
Other Info:
- Always open for cameos or if you just need an extra folk for a prompt, but please ask first if you'd like to do something more plot intensive with her!
- Her right eye (the solid coloured one) is a glass eye, it is not heterochromia or blight related; she cannot see out of it.
- Has always hated her adult eye colour, as she shares it with her lune
- Dandelion is her mobbit (MOBBIT: Prancing Fawn ) who is a companion for when Sparrow is within the grove, and a service animal for when she goes on expeditions beyond the grove.
- At this time, if Sparrow is being depicted outside of the grove, Dandelion should also be present; she would never intentionally leave the grove without her! Exceptions include if it makes sense that Dandelion could be out of frame, or if I give permission to exclude her.
- Dandelion is very optional for if Sparrow is within the grove
- Shovel is extremely optional just about all of the time
- Not likely to share her surname (or really anything about her life) unprompted, and doesn't like when it's used for no good reason.
- Absolutely will not mess around with ghosts, spirits, and the like, and does her best to respect them.
idk if i'll add a whole lot more info sections lmao. it's not unlikely but it's late rn and i just need to get this Posted
