I wanted to make a Zero sketch dump, but then I got distracted and sketched out like half of the royal guard.
The guys in it all got Plant (Code)names. Used to be an inside Joke between Ivy and Daffodil, now its an official thing.

I haven't talked about Iris yet I think;
He's a completely normal human with a more fancyful haircolor. He likes books, cooking, and is often working through nights.
You shouldn't underestimate him for a second though, after all he's made it into the royal guard - without any fancy powers to speak of.

Iris is a kindhearted goof, crushes a bit on Ryo, and is a huuuuuuge Nerd.
Anything artefacts, magic and ancient creature related is right up is alley. His eyes light up especially when you talk about the Ryujin, and his knowledge about them is impressive.
Him loving Ryujin is the equivalent of if Hangae fangirling about Titans.

Sometimes he's just standing in his room, cleaning his glasses for way too long completely lost in thought. Imagine his surprise when Ryo shows up with a lithe, blue-haired girl in his study, skin as bright as porcelain.
Critically she eyes him and the Girl. "Blue hair, dark eyes, pale shut-in and ungodly curious. Close enough." Ryo mumbles. Then she raises her voice. "You!"
Nervously Iris almost drops his glasses, catches them, and clumsily attempts to put them back on. "Y...yes Chief?"
"Remember that favour you still owe me? I need that right now. Do you think you could help me?"
He blushes a bit. The strong warrior in front of him rarely asked for help, let alone from him. "Of course!" He eagerly replies.
"Great! You are this kids uncle now."
Instantly he drops his glasses again, just to catch them again right before they fall onto the ground. "What?!?"
The bug lady hisses annoyed "If anyone asks, you are this kids uncle. She's a second-sky, Water affinity, has no relatives left, and I can't have her going through one of that red lunatics evaluations."

The girl smiles "I don't want to impose on you without anything in return of course." She searches around in her bag for a while, then pulls her hand back up.
"My dad knew a lot about Ryujin. I too learned a lot about them, and where to best find things like these~" A claw shaped crystal of astounding clarity floats above her palm.
It's slightly glowing in the dimly light room, sparkling like a beautiful gemstone. "I would like to help with your research, and answer any questions you have. You don't have to worry about where I sleep or getting me food, I'll take care of everything."
For a second, Iris eyes light up, but then he turns serious.
"Chief. I really respect you, but covering a potential suspect from the others is outright treason. I ca-" "Didn't you see what happens to them?" The chief barks at the confused scientist.
His face turns pale and he looks to the ground. "Look." With a swift move she pulled Blackthorn, her tremendous black scythe, out of her arm.
Its presence filled the entire room. "Cut nothing but the last Ryujin." She ordered. Red glowing veins spreaded across the weapons blade. Then Ryo swung it against the girl - and Iris, seeing how small the room actually was.

Nothing happened. It just felt like a soft, cold breeze was crossing his body, but neither Iris nor the Girl had as much as a scrape.

"See?" Ryo put Blackthorn away again. No matter how often he saw them, the crystal weapons never failed to fascinate Iris. The woman sighed. For a moment she looked incredibly exhausted. "Please?"

Why couldn't he just say no? This would get him into so much trouble if the Queen ever found out. Iris turned around in resignation to look at his new niece.
For the last few minutes, the strange girl had been staring at the bubbling beakers with almost childish fascination. Usually Iris would seize the opportunity to tell her plenty interesting facts about their contents,
hoping for a longer conversation about the topics he loved. But he couldn't shake this strange, unnerving feeling in the dephts of his mind. He didn't want to doubt Ryo, but he had to confirm it himself.

She didn't sense him readying his crystal dagger. Within the blink of an eye he appeared right behind her, ready to strike - just to realise she faced him with a gleeful smirk.
The dagger entered her body - and the girl started to laugh. "SsTOp it, thAt tiCkles ahahhahaha." Still shaking with laughter, she tried to apologise to the man holding a dagger at her, completely perplexed with her reaction.
"I'm s...sOhahahrry, sehehems we got off on thehe wrohohong foot. Please stohoHop I'm tickliiiish."
Finally he pulled himself together, and the knife out of her body. Again, there was nothing. Was that strange feeling just a result of his overall confusion?
"Who are you?" Iris asked. She caught her breath, then she replied "I'm no one really. Nothing for you to worry about. I'm Zero! It's a pleasure to meet you Doc! Thank you so so much for doing this.
Do you want to talk about Ryujin? I'm sure I can help with the one or other thing~"
