Personality:
He's one of those guys you just love to hate. He doesn't give a shit what you think of him and won't particularly care if everyone in California learns to hate him. He takes amusement out of making people angry and generally being an ass, and probably doesn't care about you and would abandon you or shoot you at the first chance he had. Chances are, he doesn't like you. If you're an animal, especially a horse or a reptile of some sort, you're good. You probably won't find anyone in the area who takes better care of his horse than this guy; even if he probably did steal her...that's beside the point.

If you tell him not to do something, he'll just do it again, just to bother you. He seems to have a deathwish, but always seems to get out of tricky situations at the last minute, usually with the help of a fancy derringer of his affectionately dubbed the Soulbane. This guy's so famous for wielding this gun like a madman he's been even referred by such a nickname, instead of the weapon itself.

He has a grudge against humanity and is quick to act, and doesn't bother to think about his actions until there's the barrel of a gun in his face or a knife to his throat. He seems to have absolutely no morals, or at least highly questionable ones, and seems to just care for himself. He's also vulgar and won't hesitate to speak his mind about anyone, even when they're standing right in front of him.

He probably does have the ability to actually care about someone's welfare, but people have only seen that side of him a handful of times. Just try to get on his good side. If he has one.

History:

Daniel was born in Tennessee on July 21, 1832, son to a rich English merchant and the youngest child of four; two sisters and one brother. When he turned 18 he studied at the University of Pennsylvania with a mechanical engineering degree. Four years later, the California Gold Rush started getting underway and he headed out west with his brother, Adam, eager for the adventure and riches.

Five years later, and still not much richer than he was, Daniel, although accidentally, murdered a group of travelers. Rather than face the consequences, Daniel ran, becoming a wanted outcast with a large bounty on his head.

Adam, who never was really attached to his brother and frankly wasn't fond of him at all, went after him, interested in payback and reward money. Daniel never really expected his own brother to actually attempt to kill him, but he was thinking a bit differently with a bullet in his chest. He died in 1859, and by some strange and supernatural way, was resurrected with a vengeance.

Now, with a new-found ability of shapeshifting, skill with a gun that couldn't be rivaled by many and a desire for revenge, Daniel found himself as one of the most successful bounty hunters of the time. His main goal was to find Adam and make him suffer like he did. Although, now joined by the New York city-slicker Heron O'Brien and 12-year old ruffian Sandy Richardson, who really knows what's going to happen now.

His hobbies including bounty hunting, shooting stuff, drinking, (his favorite is straight whiskey) being an ass (yes that is a hobby, shaddup) playing cards and drawing. Look, an actual hobby that doesn't bother anyone. Hallelujah!

His favorite animals are the horse and Collared Lizard, and his favorite colour is red. He prefers warm weather to cold and has a serious problem with snow, or anything snow-ish. This includes sleet, hail and freezing rain, and rain itself to a lesser extent.

He's really bad at making friends because he tends to be apathetic to most people, but his one close friend is Heron O'Brien. Although Heron's been graced with an assortment of nicknames and is usually being verbally harassed by Daniel, it's just because that's just how Daniel is. He can't change.

Lolantiheroes. Why is it that every time I think up a new plot idea my main protagonist is screwed up in some way? I guess I just love those unlovable bastard types who can't help but adoring by the end of the book/movie/etc.

Believe it or not, I thought this guy up yesterday. Brainstorming, and such. I'll have Sandy and Heron up soon, along with Adam and a few other guys/girls, too. I figured I'd just stuff his human info on this one, 'cause I never use his horse form exclusively, and he only uses it when absolutely necessary.

If anyone's up for an old western-genre roleplay any time soon, and doesn't mind unlovable bastards, I'd love to start one. I've always been an old west fanatic but have strangely never roleplayed it...Yeah I dunno.

I'll post his human ref. later. He actually seems to be an albino in human form, but not as a horse...SCREW GENETICS, I HAVE IMAGINATION.
