NP and keep up the excellent language skills, that is very impressive! I hear English is the hardest for a foreigner to learn because it has so many exceptions to the rules D:!

thank you >3< maybe its because I have talked to many foreigners so maybe that's why my English is improving 8D *YAY* and learning English in my school is a requirement. lol

I think the Aqua submitted the photo into one of the groups I'm in haha.
The wig was what caught my attention in the thumbnail though lol! And the familiar background of the Gaylord. 8D

If you don't mind me asking, how did you make the shoes?

g0ldfishl0ve In reply to Cheriita [2011-03-02 19:44:18 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!!!
And of course not, feel free to ask anything ^^
The shoes are pretty craptastic up close, but I think how I did it could be well executed it a person put more time into it than I did. First off, I bought some bases from Goodwill for 2.50 that had the perfect heel (not too tall, and they have a very thick rounded heel). I sewed the black part of the boot by tracing around my ankle/leg and then I sewed the two pieces together and "insided" them out so that the seam didn't show. I then fabric glued this black part down on the shoe. The silver bit will cover this, so it can look pretty ugly hehe. I made a newspaper mock up of how pointy I wanted the heel to be, and then I traced the mockup's outline on black fun foam and cut it out. I fabric glued the funfoam down on each side of each shoe, and then made a triangle to place in between where the shoe gets pointy but the base already ends.
I then made newspaper mock-ups of the lower silver part. I traced the mockup outline onto carfoam (the headliner stuff that is in your car) and cut it out. I then placed the carfoam cut out onto the silver 2 way stretch PVC I bought from Joanns (I DON'T RECCOMMEND USING THIS MATERIAL THOUGH...it made the stupid things so wrinkly even though I pulled it nice and taught.) I glued the PVC to the carfoam by making little itty bitty tabs so that the PVC would behave around the curves in the shoes. They still ended up a bit wrinkly though...I then simply fabric glued the silver colored carfoam to the black material part of the shoe (and the heel as well) WHILE the shoe was on my foot.
I did the newspaper mockup method for the thick cuffs too, but I made those out of upholstery foam (the green stuff at Joanns). I beveled the edges on ALL the foam, but thanks to the material I used to cover them it doesn't even show T_T I covered this foam with the silver PVC in the same way (using tabs).
The little wing parts were pretty badly done because I was frustrated at how wrinkly the shoe ended up being. Those are just little fun foam pieces that I had drafted a newspaper pattern of and then cut out. Each wing is made of two pieces covered in the silver PVC glued together so that there's just a seam around the edges.
I hope that helps! If something doesn't make sense, feel free to ask for further clarification ^^

Thank you <3! I never mind hearing it again, it was such a pain to put together and took me so many days when it honestly should not have ;3; I'm so glad you like the wig, my next upload will be a nice one where you can really see costume/wig details.
Awww!!! I'm really glad you think so; I tried to fix some of the problems I had seen on other costumes, my only regret is basically the black boob addition on the top D:

The breast plate type bits are just not the perfect shape...hers are bigger I think, and in spite of having drafted several patterns for them I couldn't shape them well. The black trim on the top worked decently though.

Thank you very much <3!!!
And of course not! I should probably put it in the description since I get a lot of Qs about it. (I believe that there is no reason to keep things like this a secret, it's pretty lol when people do...)
I bought it some time last year from Cosplaywig on ebay. I think that they no longer sell them, but I know that Fantasy Sheep on ebay (or on taobao it would be a lot cheaper) sell one in a very similar shade. That wig is much longer, but this one was BARELY long enough...I would have liked to see it longer in the back. I basically only did some very superficial layering/bang cutting/curling of the back pieces and moderate spiking because it was already short enough. It's a circle skin top, and it has 3 different fiber colors mixed in (a dark one, light one and then the overall blue color of the wig). This one cost me 33.99 shipped, but I think the fantasy sheep one costs more because it is a longggg wig. Hope that helps!

No problem! I love chatting cosplay with fellow cosplayers, so never feel afraid to ask me where I got something or how I did something.
OMG...those ALL look like my wig color, I honestly cant even tell there is a different ;___; I just checked my ebay, and for some reason neither of my cosplaywig purchases show up! I also can't find my question I asked the seller about the wig length, it's as if it has disappeared from the face of the earth. I am seriously so sorry, I don't know why it won't show up.
If I had to make a random guess I'd say the second one is the closest because it appears lighter, but I seriously wonder if they're yanking your chain by calling that color 3 different things. I see multiple fiber colors in each wig that look like mine. Again I'm really sorry I can't be more specific than that ;__;!

Thank you so much <3!
For anyone else it would be an easy costume, but I always a) work slowly b) find ways to mess things up and c)usually remake things because I am not happy with the first try.
The top was actually really hard to get right, and I'm definitely not happy with the breast plates at all but I ran out of the rubberized stuff to remake them :< The top got remade twice, and on the second one I had to take the trim off the week before the con and sew it back on in a different material that stretched. Getting into that top was hell as I had to get my shoulders through a part only big enough for the smallest part of my waist (which is fairly small). In hindsight I should have made it bigger as the corset wasn't super tight anyway. The corset is rumply, but I didn't have time to remake it...And the boots are also wrinkly, yet another thing I didn't have time to remake.
I'd say the only accomplishment which I'm happy with on the costume are the wig and the armor pieces. The armor took me days; I made them out of funfoam and model magic (which was harder and took more time than I thought it would) and then gessoed them smooth (but didn't have time to sand them!!!). Luckily my gessoing got them mostly smooth though. The crest went alright too I suppose considering it was last minute. The arm pieces have the bell shape that hers do, so that wound up okay. I like my gloves, but those were a disaster. They ended up cutting off my circulation like a mofo because of course leave it to me to pick a pretty moleskin material that unravels like a bitch. So, instead of just going in between the fingers like normal, I literally had to do it like 10 times for each finger webbing which made them look embroidered and made the finger holes smaller. I did them like 5 times before I had wearable ones. At least my vision worked though...I wanted to make them out of moleskin and have the accent pieces be made out of that cream colored fuzzy material that is sometimes used to line coats. I've seen gloves like that somewhere in my life and I just thought they would work well for Aqua.
Sorry for the TMI :👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Lovely - it's the translation of my first thought when I saw this picture.
Awesome - the second word that came to mind when comparing the cosplayers - impossible not to say you win by far. See, there's a clear difference in what's to wear a cosplay and what's to bring it to life.
