Description The children misheard you.
They broke open the jar
looking for petals
and found only flours.

The dust is everywhere,
settling everywhere,
on the refrigerator and the stove,
on the startled mother cat
yowling her pawprints
through the snowy floor,
on her sharp-eared kittens
prancing in the clouds.

The three-year old is screaming.
He has cut his finger on the glass,
there are red streaks in the snow,
and his white-faced brother
stares up at you with a look
commonly reserved for
the confused and the betrayed.

Really fantastic work. On one level it's light and fun, and on another it's something else entirely. Great poignancy here. Love it!

That's beautiful.

Sometimes things deserve a second look before you appreciate them fully. I'm finding that to be more and more true these days.

Yeah. They heard their parent speak about "flour" in the jar so they checked inside for "flowers."

Innocence - how we all wish we could return the that child-like state.
But alas, we know too much to go back there.

Just a short poem that appeared when I read this. This is a great poem! However using "everywhere" twice throws the poem off slightly. That said, the rest of the poem was so good that "everywhere" wasn't an issue. I love how you used "flours" because it shows the naive ignorance children have. All in all 4.8/5. I loved it.

Congrats on the DD! I'm so pleased to see you finally got some of the recognition you really deserve. <333 And this is a great poem... I love your diction. And I absolutely love your little play on words with "flours." That's fantastic. This poem overall just seems very well thought out, great work!!

This is a very good poem. It seems to be outwardly about the innocence of children but there is also a darker notion here. Perhaps the dangers of ignorance and not knowing better. That is shown by the children's reaction and the three year old getting hurt.

I think in the last line of the first stanza you meant flour instead of "flours" since that isn't the plural form of it and if it is a play on words it doesn't quite work. Also the repetition of "everywhere" twice in the first two lines of the second stanza throws the beginning off a little bit. Other than that though this is great.

The ending does touch me indeed. But there's a thing i'm not sure about - is this song written so, because it wants to convey an impression, a sensation below the frrequencies of the usual ones, or does it convey some 'deeper meaning' with symbols? I'm not a native speaker, so i don't completely understand each word on it's own, which would be a problem with th esecond explanation, but not with the first one - that's why i'm inclined to beleive that my first explanation is correct. Am I correct?

Well, these two kids heard their mom talking about flour in a jar, and thought she was talking about flowers, so they broke the jar open to get the flowers and now the flour's all over the place. Not much else to it, really.

It was sung in Episode 3 of Rosario+Vampire Capu2 by Kugimiya's character, Mizore Shirayuki; it's my 2nd favorite song ever, behind the song Say Yes!, which was sung in Episode 5 by Kugimiya/Mizore
