but not sure I've found the best method of photographing/scanning to show online, any suggestions?

Scanning charcoals is a pain. I put one of mine in the scanner once and when I took it back out she got her eye smudged a bit 
Maybe spray with fixative first, then scan? Though when I finish a piece, I don't think- okay let's spray!! I think okay, lets scan it and put it on the internet.
The iPhone actually takes pretty good pics though. Just take 15 or so and pick the one that is clearest. Gotta have a steady hand for that.
