I do not hate the other person's comment, or anyone's positive comments about shipping, but I hate shipping itself. Like I said on another comment, what is the point? If it's not canon, it's not gonna happen! Why spend time "shippping something so hard" if it's never gonna happen? Who cares if you "ship something so hard"? You're not the one that decides the pairings on the movie/ show/ anime, so even if you ship it... so what?
I just don't understand the point of shipping, and how people can be so into it that it's practically their hobby.

I'm talking about FAN shipping. If something is cannon, then it's fine, since the creators decided on it, and we have to respect that. But fan shipping? Why? It's never gonna happen, so why "ship it so hard"? What is the point?

There needs to be a reason because people are changing the creator's ideas. If the creator does not want two characters to be a couple, or even see each other romantically, why should the fans feel free to present them as so? Some shippers are even butthurt when you tell them that the -clearly heterosexual- characters that they've put in a yaoi couple would never do that, since, y'know, making them homosexual is changing their character?
I just don't get shipping.
We probably don't and won't agree, but as long as you understand what I'm trying to say, I'm okay with it.

It's called FREEDOM, yo. Freedom of speech, and the freedom to express ourselves however we want.
If people wanna ship non-canon, that's awesome! If people wanna draw NSFW, write fanfictions, or anything else- that is awesome and PERFECTLY OKAY.
Y'know why? Because even if the creators didn't intend on it happening- THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Especially not people who have huge fanbases like Harry Potter. You can't stop people from writing or drawing whatever they want just because YOU don't agree with it.
Also, don't get me starting on the sexuality erasure. Don't go there with me, kiddo- cause it's a load of bull. THEY'RE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. People need to calm the hell down and let others just have fun.
And it's fine if you don't like it, but it's just... kinda the way of life on the internet now. And yeah, I understand. It's just kinda... weird.

Yeah, but just like the creators can't do anything about shipping, the shippers can't do anything about any of the pairings being canon. Why do it, since their "opinions" (in a way) don't matter at all, and the creator will just keep doing whatever they want? Why "ship something so hard"? Just so you can keep drawing pictures of characters that you didn't even create and keep saying "OMG I SHIP IT SO HARDDD !1!!!"? It just feels silly to me.
I think that people should respect the creator's wishes, and, if they want to ship characters, they should create their own, whom they can ship however the hell they want. Their shipping, that way, is also canon.
Also, freedom of speech is me saying that I don't like shipping. I am tired of browsing the One Piece or Fairy Tail or another anime tag on Tumblr (since I don't have a Tumblr, I can only browse) and see millions of pairings that don't even make sense. People that haven't even met in the series being shipped, and of course MILLIONS of yaoi pairings of clearly heterosexual characters.
I just feel it is disrespectful to the creator to change the whole personality of the character just because yaoi makes the shipper horny. Even with the freedom of speech.
Also, since they're "just fictional characters", people should calm the hell down about shipping too. Some shippers consider it a personal insult if people don't like their pairing, and start flame wars at the drop of a hat. For, like you said, FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.
To conclude, I can't "have fun" with shippers shoving pairings of my favorite characters down my throat. Like they should have fun, I should too, and I sure can't.
But, since you understand what I'm saying, it's okay. Although your POV of the subject is weird for me too.

Of course we realize we can't make our ships canon! That's WHY we ship! That's why we draw, and write fanfictions! We make each other and ourselves happy with the impossible. Are you too thick to understand that? Haven't you ever imagined yourself in the world of your favorite game/anime/book/show?

It's really easy to stay out of the shipping side of tumblr/google/deviantart if you are specific. That's why we have tags, love.
Shippers gonna ship, yo. Deal with it. I personally like het shippings more than homo, but I'll still ship both- even if it doesn't make sense. Because it makes me happy. Like, I ship Karkat <3 Equius (from Homestuck). That is considered a crack ship. Not many people ship it, or know about it- but those who do love it. I don't ship Zoro/Sanji, but I can see why people would. It could work. I personally like Luffy/Nami.
As for the shipping wars- yeah, they are stupid. But some people don't get that others don't like their ships, so everyone starts shoving their opinions down people's throats. I personally try to stay outta those fights, except to say "Its okay to not like a ship, but don't be a dick about it."
We'll never agree with each other- that seems like a fact at this point. While it's a shame you can't see the appeal of shipping non-canon, I guess I can understand why. But... why not have a more open mind? See how character interact with eachother.
