Description    Hello everyone! The time to share our new shiny has finally come. This time around, I'd like to share a Jelly opal, suggested by TindomielSilverthorn ! And oh my.. there is a wonderful variety among Jelly opals, and it took me quite some time to actually decide which version and style to paint. Honestly there is so many I'd have to paint a couple more before I even scratched the surface.

 For the newcomers - I used to paint gems/crystals/minerals as an exercise to clear my head, but it has since become a passion of mine. If you have any suggestions about gemstones, minerals or crystals you would like me to try and paint, please do share! I still have a couple written up, but the supply is ever dwindling.

Thank you! I'm glad you like them . It depends on the shape and texture, but they can take anywhere between 3 to 6 hours I reckon. I've gotten a bit more efficient of late (after good 9 months of practicing one weekly or so ).

yayy, love seeing more opals from you!! you always manage to find the most unique variations and they're a great source of inspiration, especially considering how colorful this one is in particular.

Thank you Cande! Opals are wonderful indeed, there is so many variations of them out there, and I had hard time picking my favorite for Jelly opal, until I stumbled upon an antique set of jewelery that rocked Jelly opals in this style.. and I was sold

Oh my, they are fascinating! Thank you for suggesting it, I'll definitely work on that one. The rainbowish quality, lovely blues and yellows somehow nicely blending. Need.. to.. paint.

uses really nice specimens of labradorite in their work.  A lot of artisans here do.  I saw some purple labradorite the other day, which was the first time I'd seen that color in the stone!
