Since Simmy, the San’layn, was discovered by the Brigade, they have largely spent their time in the shadow of the Crimson Judge, Octavian. Unfortunately, Simmy’s arrival - or perhaps disappearance from wherever they came from - seems to have spurred an uptick in activity from the mysterious blood cult, Cruor Sanguis. As such, the Brigade has seen fit to keep Simmy closely watched and beyond the detection of the blood cult. Sequestered in Octavian’s lair for safekeeping, deep beneath the earth, Simmy has whiled away their hours exploring the halls, which are very much NOT Simmy-proofed. But Simmy has discovered the lair is too gloomy and dark for their liking. After an ill-conceived attempt to bring some color to the caverns using vibrant makeup palettes on themself and the walls - and a subsequent stern discussion with Octavian, who prefers his lair remain as it is, thank you very much - Simmy was left frustrated and longing.

But Simmy was not left that way for long. In their daily lessons, they have learned to read, and somehow, a very special tome made its way into their hands. No one is sure whether it was some of the other wardens who frequent the shadowy abode, such as Twinkle and Mien, or Octavian himself, who provided the tome to Simmy. But this tome held the key to something new…something exciting and vivid: a forbidden, untamed knowledge. In the book, Simmy found a love of reading and imagination, of worlds unknown. Since then Simmy has devoured every book provided to them - and even some that they just found around Octavian’s lair - and is ever yearning for more. But this book remains one of Simmy’s treasured possessions and their favorite, and they regularly return to the comfort of its pages, accompanied by some of their favorite plushies.

Hello everyone! Today we are going to meet Simmy again, a newcomer to the Brigade we've first met a few months back. I had the pleasure to work on this piece as a commission for the wonderful astralfox0893 and had a lot of fun with the project. Combining vampires and dark crypts with a happy theme was new and most welcome .
