Oh this is absolutely adorable! I love how you took the picture outdoors - the setting reminds me so much of the Old Road in Final Fantasy X.
Sine you had initial misgivings with respect to the fur, I don't think it's too golden. It works well with the two-tone feathers and looks like how I would expect chocobo down to appear. I love the beak and the face, and the crown of feathers surrounding it are a wonderful touch, their color complementing the darker yellow feathers of his crest quite nicely. I think including the yellow feathers just underneath the crest helped to blend with the "down" as well.
I am curious, with respect to the crest feathers, as to why they are not gold-tipped like the wing feathers. I realize that's paint that was added on to the tips of the wing plumes. Since it is also present on the tail feathers, its absence from the crest is noticeable and somewhat confusing.
I do love how you have the wing feathers fanned out, as well as the tail, letting us see the full breadth of the chocobo's feathers. I imagine it took qutie some time to cut all of that out and to notch the larger feathers so they appeared more realistic. The only suggestion I would make regarding the wings is in the layering of the feathers, as I think it would be interesting to see how the lighter color would look a littler further from the body. I think it could easily be accomplished by having one of the smaller, brighter feathers attached to the top of the darker feathers, giving it the appearance of being further out without weighing down the top of the wing with adhesive. Otherwise, though, I think the wing is beautifully done.
I love the feet. The scales on the front of the leg and the way you've shaped and colored the skin are wonderfully down. I especially like the touch of having the skin bulge a bit where it connects to the claws, giving it a very professional - and official - appearance.
Overall, I think this is a brilliantly made work, and I do thank you for sharing it. Belated congrats on the DD as well!

Omg, I´m so sorry I did not answer you most thoughtfull comment earlier, I don´t know how I could oversee it
Thank you for noticing! Indeed I choose our gardens stone way since I had to think of this landscape^^
After a time I really came to like the different yellows on him too - it semed far worse in the first days^^ I put alot of thought in how to blend the colors, so I´m really happy you notice that
Haaa, I don´t know why! Now looking at it, its the first time I recognize that I did not add golden tip for his crest O.O Maybe I simply forgot, strange... You´ve a great perception!
These are sooo great ideas for better wings! To be honest - Choco here was my second birdie and until now I´ve learned all these trcks myself - thats why I´m a bit ashamed of his wings now >.< Remembering the crafting process I hurried a bit to much at the end, a lesson to be patient after all^^
Thank you! The feet were fun to make, I´glad you like them! It was first time sculpting birdfeet, so I gave my very best
You´re far to kind, and I´m not sure how I can express my thanks for this wonderfull, elaborated comment - such things are rare and precious in the net!

No worries! RL happens, and we have to deal with it.
I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of with his wings. They're certainly excellent enough on their own. And besides, if you hadn't made his wings like this and thought, "how can I make it better?" then you wouldn't have discovered new techniques.
I do my best to note my observations for the art I'm looking at. Sometimes this means studying a piece for a few minutes, but it's worth it to let you know that your efforts were truly appreciated! After all, you took the time to make an excellent piece, and with this one, your efforts really stood out. So, my perspective on it is that if you can go to those lengths to provide beautiful works for me to look at and appreciate, then I should take the time to leave you my thoughts on it.
As for thanks, you've done that with sharing your wonderful work!
