The fantasy land. . .

The idea behind these photos is very Alice in wonderland/Wizard of Oz inspired. Our brief was simple, just two still lives. My idea was to have a fantasy land for the first photo and then the destruction of the fantasy by reality in the second.

I used smarties, jelly beans, lollypop trees, fake snow, playing cards, flowers, my little ponies, glitter, stars, toadstools, colourful clouds, and a bright red apple.

It was so much fun making this set! I made all the clouds, and for the toadstools I bought mushrooms and some clay, made the base for them out of the clay and painted red dots on them, hehe. I used one barn door light, and looking back, I should have used two either side. But you live, you learn! It’s overexposed at the front because I’ve upped the contrast on photoshop… it was too dark at first and I think even though it’s a bit bleached out, it gives of a kind of bold light that it needed for fantasy.
