There's nothing wrong with a simple design man. Β A lot of your designs have a classic look which is indeed rather simple for ease of repeated drawing.
Just remember simple designs put your characters in the same company as designs like Batman, Superman. Spiderman and pretty much anyone created in the 40s-70s.Β
Unlike the 9-s and beyond where costumes started getting overly complicated and busy, which is a trend thats come back into vogue since a lot of artists are being influenced by the movies of late.

Guess I grew up on the classic costume designs and while I appreciate the artists that draw each and every boot lace and zippers, etc. It's just not my style. Guess when I hear people say, your style is simple, it just gets under my skin like I'm being lazy or something.

Nah mate dontΒ take it that way. Im sure if the guy had used the phrase clean art you would have understood what he meant. See I also grew up with the classic stuff of the 70s and 80s myself and while I love doing detailed pieces I know better than to build a book around an uber-detailed design lol.Β
Your clean and simple art style lets you work fast Im sure and concentrate on some really dynamic images. Your stuff has a lot of life to it.
Now if I was gonna crit you on anything it would be a shortage of backgrounds, But I dontΒ know if you are spare with them because its just DU challenge stuff or if thats something you have issues with. Since you know, the DU stuff we all do just for fun. Its not the same as working on your own book for real.Β

Yeah, backgrounds have been few and far in between lately, but there is a reason too. ALl these re-designs and single images I've been drawing lately are going to a bigger image. It's going to be massive!
