Description I guess this is #2 is my series of great jazz artists. I just used ink for the figure and Photoshop for the background. I figure this will be something cool to silkscreen, eventually.

Outstanding graphic design. It will be PERFECT for a silkscreen (shirts, bags etc)

Thanks very much! Unfortunately, I don't think the screening thing is going to happen. I used to do screen printing for a living, so I had easy access to a press and all of the materials. But alas, I left that job before I got a chance to mass produce this one. My buddy still curses me for not making this a t-shirt.

You should use Threadless or CafePress or something like that!

Thanks! A buddy of mine keeps asking me when I'm going to make a t-shirt out of it. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a silkscreen press anymore

Very nice piece. The background gives it wonders, I'm really impressed.

John Coltrane's my personal hero. :]
which is kind of ironic when I look at the rest of your gallery seeing that you've rendered a lot of the DC heroes. (basically, I'm thrilled.)

Wonderful Job!

Haha, yeah, I don't do that many non-superhero pieces. I was actually planning on silkscreening prints of this one (which is why it's only two colors) back when I used to screen shirts for a living. The gallery I was working with at the time asked if I had any music-related pics (in Baton Rouge, they're almost a sure sell, along with fleur de lis and tigers) and Coltrane immediately came to mind. I never got around to doing the prints, though

Mmmm Coltrane is my favorite. Especially Afro Blue Impressions. And Blue Train. This is fabulous work.

Thanks a bunch. I've been trying to broaden my musical horizons, and Coltrane is one of those "must listen to" guys if you're getting into jazz. Very dense, challanging stuff. I'm really glad you like it

this is a really nice piece. i like the really thin lines in the sax, in contrast to the thicker ones in the figure. i also like the hands, especially the left one. (his left) they remind me of tim sale hands.

Thanks! I'm still working on controlling my brush stroke to get those delicate, expressive lines that Sale is famous for. Maybe one day *sigh*. Thanks again for the kind words.
