Only problem I had was Tauriel, Radagast, and Legolas... Oh, and Azog as well... After that, not bad, but it isn't amazing. Lord of the Rings was a better movie series since they kept to the book as much as possible, except they had to cut some parts out because there would be 6 movies, 2 movies for one book since each book was originally split into 2, if they added every single detail. They kept to the Hobbit good, but... it's like they added an OC to the Hobbit series and threw in Legolas for shits and giggles...

I read the original Lord of the Rings books and he only showed up for maybe a couple pages in the first book.

Honestly, I don't care faithfulness to the book. I just thought it would be fun include a nerdy complaint in the comic.
But as casual viewer, the film lacked true sense of rhythm, contained lots of unnecessary dialogues, forced (so much) the link to the previous trilogy (instead of being subtle) and although not a bad trilogy in all, this could not overcome its predecessor.

well I did, in fact, enjoy the 2nd part more~ despite the dragging
at least it connected the dots among the movies. Original LOTR was not even planed when the Hobbit was written~ oh Tolkien, you and your crazy fantasy worlds *read read read*
