See? Thank you my friend. I'll tell you this: I have at home the trilogy (my daughter bought and read it) but, don't know why, I never read it. Now I'll do it, at least to learn whan an alethiometer is.

Is a main source of my inspiration. As it has several layers in the narration can be seen as child books but there a lot of details that can be appreciated too for more adult readers

No, I don't think so. We have more or less the same tastes so....or probably I read as a teenager too.Β
I'll make you an example: a lot of people assume that the Harry potter's saga is teenager's stuff. Now, whether it's liked or not, every book has an underlayer of evil and violence that makes it a very stimulating and scary book, forcing even the youngsters to make questions about the worst sides of human nature. That's why I think that Phillips' books aren't so....easy. We'll see, we'll see!!

But it will have to wait, I just found the first book ofΒ Cordwainer Smith's "The Instrumentality of Mankind" series
It is really an anticomunist sci-fi writer and that reflects in all of the writings I have read until now, but except the political tone, is a great writer and very innovative. Not for all tastes though

While reading his bibliography, I found a novel "A planet named Shayol", that I red a looong time ago as a part of a sci-fi short stories book. I found it most....distressing, disquieting, extreme, but fascinating. Only, I did not remember him as the author. If this is a sample of his other novels...well, I think I'll read a lot! Β Β Β

yes, they are short tales. We are lucky because in spanish there is all the work of him published, even few works not published in english*. Of course there are a lot more still not published because it was lost, but the "complete works" of him in english are not complete I think. I only have the volumes I and IV so I will search in internet.
