Description
In our campus we've got many trees and when spring and summer come,it turns into a colorful spectacle of blooms. Here's one of the pics i took a few springs ago.These flowers are from a cockspur coral tree,which is our national flower (and also,Uruguay's one).
Erythrina crista-galli,known as ceibo [it is pronunced "SAY-boh" ]in Southamerica is a species of flowering tree in the family Fabaceae,native to Argentina,Uruguay,Paraguay,southern Brazil and cultivated in other places f the world.
It lives in some ecosystems as swamps,wetlands and gallery forests.It's common seeing it planted in Parks for their red flowers.
Is a small tree which usually grows reaching heights of 5-8 m (16-26 ft) and it flowers from October to April in their native land (southern hemisphere).Its taproots have nodules that contain symbiotic bacteria popullations,them help the tree obtaining some nutrients as nitrogen.
