This is something that's bugged me for a while, actually.
I have a lot of friends on DA, and a lot that consider me their best friend.Well, when it comes to my close friend's art, I usually try to comment and fave as much as possible - even if I don't know what it is, I'll still try and comment on the cuteness or amazingness of the picture. Why? Because it's being a good friend: loving all their art.
I have many DA friends that say they're my best friends, but only comment on something that interests them as well. Well, if you were really my best friend, you'd love and try to comment on ALL my art, not just the ones that of your same interest.
I have many that don't do this, and many that do. To the ones that do, I thank you. You are true friends and I love you.

Well I don't think a true friend even has to LIKE your art. My friend hates my art she is is my best friend. And not everyone is going to like every singe thing you draw so commenting something mean would be well...mean. And I really wouldn't think they would want to lie to you.. And if your like a lot of people, then you really wouldn't want people just to say "Good job" because it doesnt really tell you what the they like about the art. Thought commenting on the art is always nice I don't think they have to LOVE a the art.

Unfortunately... I usually have barely enough time to just comment on the art that gets my attention... Heck, even now I'm kicking myself because I need to be working on my English paper instead of browsing Deviantart... But, I try to comment as much as I can, when I can. I do my best, and I guess that's the best I can do.
I love all your art, though, even if I can't seem to dig myself out of this pile of homework long enough to say it.

No, being a true friend means you can still like and dislike stuff about your friend, but are completely open about it like a sibling. True friends give me criticism on my stuff and tell me how I can improve.

....well......what if their art truly isn't that good? Or if the person takes offence to its message or something? ....of course, I see what you mean in that they would love it simply because their true friend drew it...
