I think I just finished my new FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME<3<3

"Going Bovine" is one of the funniest thought-provoking coming of age, meaning-of-life stories I've ever read! I recommend it to everyone (as long as you don't mind a bit of language!!) The style of writing and the wonderful imagery in this book make it one of the only books I've read where I wanted to pick up a pen and transfer it into a graphic novel. Maybe I'll do some practice pages sometime.
This is the main cast, I shall explain them briefly!

Cameron- A young man suffering from a rare form of Mad Cow disease, his mind is slowly falling apart and killing him painfully. He's on a mad-dash mission to find a man named Dr. X, who brought forth a stream of dark energy that will destroy the universe and is the cause of Cameron's disease. He's sarcastic, world-weary, but willing to go to insane lengths to not only save his life- but learn what it means to live rather than exist.
Gonzo- A neurotic, death-obsessed germophobe midget from Cameron's high school and his partner in crime, tagging along in the mad save-the-universe mission in hopes of finding something for himself.
Dulcie- A "punk rock angel" who appears to Cameron and gives him advice on where to go next, and is desperately (though cryptically) trying to teach him the meaning of life.
Balder- A yard gnome that Cameron found while at the house of a drug dealer named Carbine (it's a long story), Balder is actually a Norse god trapped in the form of a yard gnome and cursed to a life of humiliation. Under Cameron's ownership, he swore to protect the kind boy at any cost; and someday make his way back to his waiting ship, Ringhorn.

It's a weird book.
