Description A draw for Myth Pantheons game from Alderac group
I done this pic at the beginning of the year, when I was spending a time on the hospital was a bit uncomfortable to draw and paint with all the needles on my right arm and hand (the arm I use to paint) I asked to the doctors to use my left arm, but was used for arround a month and a half, so they decided to use my right arm XD was waaaay uncomfortable but was fun in the end.

Ganesha (Sanskrit: गणेश; IAST: Gaṇeśa; About this sound listen (help·info)), also spelled Ganesa or Ganesh and also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar, is one of the best-known and most widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. His image is found throughout India. Hindu sects worship him regardless of affiliations. Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains, Buddhists, and beyond India.

Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles (Vighnesha, Vighneshvara), patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is honoured at the beginning of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography.

Ganesha emerged a distinct deity in clearly recognizable form in the 4th and 5th centuries CE, during the Gupta Period, although he inherited traits from Vedic and pre-Vedic precursors. His popularity rose quickly, and he was formally included among the five primary deities of Smartism (a Hindu denomination) in the 9th century.

According to Kundalini yoga, Ganesha resides in the first chakra, called Muladhara (mūlādhāra). Mula means "original, main"; adhara means "base, foundation". The muladhara chakra is the principle on which the manifestation or outward expansion of primordial Divine Force rests.

Most common tale is that his head was cut off by Shiva and that Durga became enraged in response and so as to placate her they brought him back to like with the Elephant's head

See, now this is one of the reasons why Hinduism is the only religion I kind of like. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think Shiva or Kali or Krishna or Ganesh are any more real than Superman (hell, Marvel actually made Thor INTO a comic book character so maybe I should have used that as an example), but basically it's like a 3000 year old comic book. Also, they're the only religion that got the approximate age of the universe correct, not thousands, not millions, not even trillions, but billions, so definitely points for that. One of the litmus tests for a religion that outspoken atheists put forward is if they made any claims that are truly prophetic, and not cheating, and that one kind of passes there. And who needs to read about stinky old Jesus or Noah or Moses or Muhammad when you've got THIS guy, am I right? Heh heh. You know, he actually kind of reminds me of the alternate version of Strong Sad on the "Xeriously Forxe" title page for homestarrunner.com (www.homestarrunner.com/main26.… when you move the cursor over "e-mail". "I'm MAD but I'm flying!!!!"

I like his elephant feet. At first I thought his left lower fist was an elephant foot too but no, it's just a fist seen at an awkward angle that makes it look like it could be an elephant foot at first. But where are the lower arms coming from? They don't appear to be attached to any part of his body.

This is one of my favorites,
but Oh, Oh... WIKI CRITISCISM!!!!

In Hinduism, he's supposed to be the fat one that sits eating sweets on his pet rat ( I know, it's ridiculous but it's the truth...)

Anyway, I really love it! Why don't you do more from Hinduism? It's perfect for you because thee are loads of epic battles and monsters and gods and heroes!!!!

Good painting. We generally see the images in a calm mood but here it is different. You have studied the mythology alongwith art, it's good. Only the thing is that the body of Ganesha is not of elephant. Please try other dieties also. There is lot more in Hindu culture and we want to see it in different perspective. Ganesha may bless you !
