A recent commission based on Steven Spielberg's 1979 World War II comedy. We started out with the idea that it would be a straight-up pulp cover drawn in a classic 1930s style, but it evolved to be a combination of that plus the caricature style movie posters like the ones that Frank Frazetta did and used to be popular in the 60s andn 70s. Lots of fun to work on since I love drawing caricatures.
Drawn and colored with Paint Tool SAI and some final color adjustment in Photoshop.

One of my favorite characters. I wish that movie had spent about 15 extra minutes on just John Belushi being eccentric, a tough-as-nails Real American Hero who can't do anything right.
