The same reason why hoverbikes and lightsabers don't exist. Real life physics has a lot more limitations than fictional physics. Main reason is that it would require too much energy to make it practical. Jetpacks aren't readily usable as it uses so much fuel. etc etc.

I define "Power armor" as either physically assisted armor with built in comforts for soldiers, then built in logistical equipment, and finally kevlar, ceramic, and carbon fiber armoring in a rig. It's all about diverting energy and dulling the effects on an object. Most people can't stab through something hard, and find the right structure to make the others in and we'd be pretty good.

Yeah. It won't be as fancy as fiction has it but that be pretty sweet.

My main point (and I should prob rewrite my first comment), was that we can't expect the way fiction does things. I would hope people can realize that the "cool" factor in fiction isn't going to be very practical or even possible IRL, but I hope they can appreciate the babysteps that do exist or something. But then, I do know that there are people out there who would still want the cool factor, and sometimes expect too much right away.

You mean from that one kickstarter? If so, I seen it, and they had a disclaimer saying that, it would still require a heck load of energy and moreorless needs to be done on certain areas. So the practicality of it is still far from making it an everyday object... lol

Its not about how good or bad it is, the fact is that it exists and works in the sense that it "hovers" and that it's a "board" it fulfills its basic task and it physically exsits.

Ah. My argument was basically the good or bad aspect though.  
Technically I think many fictional stuff "exists" or could exist, but not in how people expect it to be.

My argument is that we actually do have the tech to make such armor. Not saying anyone in their right mind would, its insanely impractical.
