I love the fact that you can see Carl's shadow in the last panel. It's touches like these that make it so much cooler

After I finish the basic renders, it takes quite a few hours of photoshop to put them into frames, and little touches always make a big difference to how I feel about a piece.
(Probably more than you want to know but...) The rendered frames are all seperate images to start with, so I use the builtin windows slide show to watch them all through without speech or effects or anything. As I watch each frame you tend to build up a mental image of where things should go, but also you notice what leap of the imagination the reader will have to make from one frame to another, and it's too big you either re-render it (or add another frame...though I try to avoid this) or where possible add small touches as a visual hint.

That's very interesting! you know when I first saw the strips I thought they wereillustrated, but then I thought maybe it's a cel shader, when I saw Betty and how "accurate" she looked from image to image. And then you mentioned posing so I figured it out. Very cool system! you're right that it allows people with little natural skill to still make cool stuff

You far too kind (but I don't care lol). I use two packages to produce them (illustrator actually isn't one of them), the characters themselves are modelled and rendered in 3D (either in 3DSmax, or Blender) and then I use photoshop to composite them into a strip (I tried the gimp for a while but it was harder work).
Modelling the characters in a 3D environment means they can be posed, each one takes around a week to model (including giving them a skeleton so that I can pose them), but after that it's just a matter of coming up with ideas.
I'll post you a screen shot of them in 3D format in my scraps if you'd like to see.

I have heard of 3D Max, but haven't worked with it. I have worked with Maya though! I'm not very good with 3D-modeling (I can't do it at all XD just gave it a try..) But i'm sure curious on how you manage to make your cute comics!
Does this means you can animate them too? I know the program is able to do animations, but are you?!

No problem, there is a composite in my scraps now with a view from one of my strips. The only cartoons I don't use 3D for are the bear hunting strips, I hand draw those using a waycom.
I've done a fair bit of animation in my time, part of what I do for a living involves it, however it's extremely time consuming even for a very short animation, and I don't know if I would ever have the 'free' time. The way the characters are built means that it is very feasible to animate them though.
I did think about doing a simple herb walk and trip animation a while back, never know I might get around to it one day.
I just want to say thank you so much for your very kind comments, the huge number of favourates and especially your interest in the process of producing the cartoons, it's very flattering when someone takes an interest. So ...erm... thanks

I've worked at a design office for a while and i've studied Multi Media Design, so i've been working with most design-programs etc.
I'd love to see an animation of yours, if you have the time or the motivation to make one that is! Don't want to push around
And no prob about the comments and the faves, they're worth it! I really like own projects and designs, so much better then fanart/fanworks (which are nice at some moments)
I truly appreciate the work of an artist, especially when it's original

i don't draw in my freetime anymore... i guess i'll draw again when i run out of money or when my friends dump me...
lol, honestly i think when i m done furnishing my place i can get back to drawing... it's a small place, it's not done yet but i'm kinda excited about it, and i'm doing a lot of running around and shopping... my saturdays are too swamped, and on sundays i'm usually exhausted from all the late nights...
