Description ENTR'ACTE

You, yet future, I find
preparing yourself for me.

Grass blades I braid:  your young father
and your young mother strive to make you.

Warm stone against my knee:
your childhood fever.

An insect I disturb scurries in retreat:
bearing news, you race.

You sob bereaved
and this sharp shadow moves.

Effusion of lilac, a feathered flute:
you close a book, enchanted.

Into your reflection shimmering, you dive--
the word “love” now just behind my pen.

At my back a prickly press of bark,
a snaking root beneath my thigh . . .

you’ve not yet felt my touch,
not heard my voice,  nor know my name.

Thank you! - glad you think so.  Beyond a certain point it's hard to know.  As you say / imply:  it's a continuing thing, an evolution of taste and judgment - which, of course, doesn't guarantee a superior result!

Thank you for your interest: I do write poetry, usually long (poetry-book length) sequences with a loose narrative trhread -- although each poem can 'stand alone' i e, as a lyric on its own.

I do have a Facebook account, but I seldom sign on because the pages load extremely slowly, sometimes fail to load at all -- not sure why, if it's the version of IE I'm using or what -- but I sorta gave up on it.

It took a few reads to get it but the poem is now in me. There is an immediacy in your imagery that's not there in the poems. But if one is willing to take the time, the two of them together become a most beautiful pairing, fit for the most sumptuously made cama matrimonial.

I read an article recently regarding the fact that of all types of creatures, only a few of the 'higher' mammals can recognize their own reflection, so I was keen to see if I were among them. I'm pleased to report that indeed I am, that I knew it was I -- and not Alice through the Looking Glass -- even before you confirmed it! However, thanks very much -- and as always, for your generous encouragement, especially nice at the start of a new year!

I forgot: European magpies too -- and, possibly, pigeons. Dogs, cats, and human infants (up to approx 18 months) don't 'get it'.

Sadly the only musical ability I have begins and ends with turning on my stereo.

You know you are one of my very favourite artists here...you never cease to move me with your images...you never cease to leave me awed by your skill and talent...and yes...your physical beauty.
