'Season 1' of my D&D game is coming to a close soon. I've been feeling a tad nostalgic, so I made a few recurring NPCs. Am I going to write their lengthy backstories now that no one will read? Yes I am! Prove me wrong, deviantART, prove me wrong.

Gomez Barnam is a renowned archaeologist. When he was a young man he idolized Olga Northbrook, champion of the golden age of archaeology in Gaiyax. After a rigorous time in university he was able to study under her, and during their time together Gomez fell in love. Before Olga could fully realize her own feelings, tragedy struck. While investigating a recently unearthed tomb, Olga was struck by a curse which robbed her of all emotion and passion, the latter of which having been one of her defining traits. Heartbroken, Gomez accepted a job with the burgeoning Gielran Archaeological Society which would take him a world away, but at the last minute asked Olga to come along with him. There Gomez finds new purpose helping to uncover secrets of the ancient world, never too far from his slow-witted but well-meaning assistant.

The man known as Delgado is the definition of suave and debonair. Without a father for most of his life, this left him open to the influences of his demonic ancestor, who began grooming the boy to one day be his warlock. Delgado was assured that his destiny was laid out before him, which gave him a sense of superiority over others, but his Half-Elf mother always encouraged him to use his wits and intelligence to make a good life for himself. When it came time for a ritual which would solidify Delgado as his ancestor's powerful servant, his mother took the role instead, protecting him from the wicked fate. He sought out the most powerful mages in the land to help free her, but through the machinations of fate he became a student of the Wizard's Guild. Delgado rose through the ranks of the esteemed institution, with the rivalry he had with his roommate largely defining his career as a wizard. Ever fearful of the day he'll have to challenge his mother, Delgado travels the world engaging in excess, representing his guild, and having adventures.

Madame Dhawan is an enigma. Frequenting the city of Gielhart, so-called center of the world, but found in all kinds of remote places, Madame Dhawan's divination ability is unparalleled. Rumored to be a Child of Melkinon, 8 unique demigods blessed with power by the god of magic, the mysterious fortune teller always seems to know where to be and when she is needed to be there. Not without humor, she will sometimes make light of those to come to see her hoping to master or simplify fate, but should your quest be noble and true, she will help you if she can.
