And this is where I wish they had an Urban Fantasy or Modern Fantasy tag for something like this.Not gonna say much on it except that red dragon up there is NOT Jonathan. This came off of an idea I had before I did Jonathan about the magical world beneath the streets of the city of Knoxville.
Guess why it's called Club Freak...
And remember, don't piss off the bunny.

since you offered a critique on this, so why not. i usually not that at good in depth critiques, but i thought i give a shot on your pic.
cool pic you have here, i love the combination of modern and fantasy elements in it, really like the colors, the bright red and green lights really glows off the page and the lighting on the dragon is excellent. the ogre guy is kind of funny with the elvis like hairdo, but over all it a great pic. one thing to nitpick though is the stuff on the bottom just looks like random scribbles and doesn't really look like people (or mythical creature folk) if just a rough outline of heads or hands waving in the air, it would look more a crowd if that was what you were going for. hope that doesn't make you mad, i'm not trying too, but that's the point of a critique is point the good things about the pic and also the things that need improvement on. overall i give this pic high ratings.

Not so sure about if you've ever seen a nightclub but they have glowsticks and when they wave the glowsticks around, it looks like glowy squiggles. Those lines are showing movement.
Since I've been to ravers like this, pretty much with all the lights and sounds, that's all one really sees when it comes to people, dark shapes and glowy squiggles. This is a scene literally shot in realtime as it were. I should show people my club images.

that's only thing really to nitpick about is the crowd looking more a crowd, but i guess with the flashing crazy lights you wouldn't see that much anyway.

No, you wouldn't see much of the crowd unless you're like two feet away from someone. Nightclubs are smoky, dark, and confusing because of the strange lights. And when you make a picture, you naturally get the blurring. Like I said, I've got dance club images where pretty much everyone looks like blobs. Even with the flash on. But that's the look of the nightclub. This image, you're supposed to feel the movement of the crowd below the dragon's feet, so you're not gonna see their details.

yeah, i saw the pictures, i see what you mean now. with a camera is very hard to capture anything solid, especially with dark lighting and lots of movement going on.

Apparently, you don't know the difference between watercolor and digital art. That does NOT look like watercolors. I know because I've used water color before. You would not be able to get those neon shades through watercolor nor that deep black with watercolor. In fact, you would not be able to get any of those effects with watercolor.

I never knew they made 30 lb glow sticks. Nice, I miss those days... the lights, the sounds, my abs... I could've done without the sweat and dehydration though.
You've definetely captured the feel though I'd reckon and the lighting is dead on. The perspective is nice as well. The only thing I might've done different is perhaps adding a few more club patrons, maybe some more really freakish people in unsual poses and situations, just to really give the viewer something potrentially new to look at each time they see it. Either way, easy 9 out of 10, and faved.

The lighting and atmosphere really set off the party spirit, I like the shades and colors of it, I only thing 'wrong' I can find is the dragon's neck seems too short and fat. It could be that way either from the angle from looking at the dragon.

It's the angle. At that angle, anything will look short and fat. Someone told me to do another angle and I warned him that I'll be getting comments like this about short or fat...but he said do it, so...yeah, I'm doing it at another angle. This is how a dragon looks from our view.

Awesome painting, love the color scheme, it just seems to jump out at you no matter what angle you look at it from. I bet Sean Connery's Draco would love to go to a place like this.

Really great picture! The lighting effects look great, you really captured the feel. And the idea of a comparatively larger dragon hitting the dance floor with everybody else is fantastic.
