I actually am questioning WHY Sonic crashed at all.
I've read over this about, 100 times now and am trying to think so I pretty much just came up with two ok-ish theories for this.
1: Shadow NEVER cries! So he had to have had a very intense amount of emotions going around inside of him. Which basically just killed Sonic on the inside because Sonic felt what Shadow felt and Sonic basically just couldn't handle the emotions that he was getting from Shadow.
2: Sonic LITERALLY just ran out of power and basically just killed himself on accident. He can't draw anymore power from his brothers, and he ran out of his own energy as well. The strain on his soul from the fight, and the death of his mother, and most likely from Shadow's emotions, basicallyΒ just caused Sonic's soul to probably tear itself apart, only slightly though.
(No I don't mean Sonic was literally killed)

Part of his reaction here is from the "crack!", but I think there's still grief at killing his mother and trauma at the realization of what he just did to Shadow and Silver. Yeah, he probably doesn't fully know what was happening on their end, but he can guess they didn't enjoy it.

I am happy Sonic is back to normal and finally snapped out of it but... he looks so....like he's seeing his death playing out right infront of his inner eye (either that or Shadow kicking his butt for what he's done to him and Silver if there is some way to survive this)
