Description A dragonfly I shot, and I really love the way it turned out.
It was shot in a very early morning light (about 5:30 AM) and the soft light allowed me to get a perfect shilouet, almost like a sketch

i love the pose of the dragonfly, with its head bent down, as if slightly regretting something or just thinking

Cool shot. I like how it works well as a sillouette but still maintaining the detail in the wings. Nice work.

again beautiful with your eye for an amazing shot. I like this because it seems a bit different then a lot of pieces of yours I have seen, at least when it comes to subject matter. I like the simplicity of it, and the detail that is showing through on the wings, simply creates a wonderful texture.

Cheers

An unusual photograph. I have to say though that it wouldn't be much without the white sky. Good looking out and capturing.

how did you shoot something outside, without flying away, and with a white background?! i've always wondered how people do that. but its ok if you dont want to tell me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gilad In reply to dazeddreamss [2004-12-09 06:41:46 +0000 UTC]

When you use light as background, and take your light metering of the subject, it gives you an over exposed background, so it becomes white

your early morning shots always seem to pay off. the contrast is superb, which brings forth part of its personality. you did a good job at isolating it.

definitely a good choice to make it a deviation.. i really like the way this turned out as well.. the silhouette is really strong but soft are the same time.. i guess due to the lighting.. very nice work.

Normally macro work makes me go "neat, you can use a camera" But this explains why to use a camera.
